What you need to do is start a new game in normal mode, but type "veganmode" before you start the game, while you're still looking at the main menu. You can do this at any time before you start the game. In other words, before you click on the word "Normal".
It's all one word. You won't see it as you type, but the game logo will change font and will include the words "Cheat mode enabled. Type 'meatmode' to return to normal game mode."
Now start your game. You are technically in Normal mode, but you will see no cannibals at all. When you want to switch back to normal mode, return to the main screen and type "meatmode". The logo will change back to its normal appearance and it will no longer say "Cheat mode enabled."
Now you can build in peace, but still switch back and forth between modes.
Veganmode and meatmode do indeed work. That's how I am playing right now.
(Yes, I'm on the latest version.)
You can change the difficulty of your save games by doing this step:
1. go to your save file (depend on your computer) mine was in C:\Users\(computer`s username)\AppData\LocalLow\SKS\TheForest\SinglePlayer
2.choose which slot of save do you want to change
3. go to difficulty file and click on it. open with notepad or notepad++.
4. change it to normal / hard survival / peaceful
5. ctrl+s or save it.
6. reload your game and have fun
necro :V anyway changing difficulty file doesn't work most of time (sometimes it works.)
You should use commands
https://theforest.gamepedia.com/Console_Commands
"setdifficultymode normal"
most of the time you have to save and reload after comand but sometimes it works instantly
