I can now confirm that S4 League is still a better game than this
I haven't played S4 League in like about a year; so don't bother try calling me a fanboy. But this game just doesn't prove it's self as a verticular, fast-pace, parkour combat shooter like S4 League does. All you're really doing in this game is spamming WW, AA, DD , SS just to "dodge" enemy gunfire and gain speed. It's still basically a generic tasteless 3rd person shooter and a word like generic coming out my mouth is pretty rare since I'm not a picky person especially when it comes to games. I'm not picking on this game; I just wanna know why this game is very hyped at the moment while it has nothing to it. The melee combat and mechanics is also pretty terrible surprisingly coming from it's predecessor GunZ which involved K-Style; yes it was a glitch not an actual in-game mechanic, but the developers could of taken that idea and core mechanic and tried to at least implement a similiar mechanic to make this game a little more worthwhile to play. I don't know. I'm just saying it's been what 8 years since S4 League has been out and still no game has done the 3rd person parkour deathmatch shooter formula right like S4 does it. This game is just too easy and simple. I even posted a link below showing my first game I ever played below. The only things that this game has over S4 League is the wallrunning and Team Elimination which are both pretty awesome, but even the wallrunning isn't fluent nor nicely implemented. It just isn't smooth and free-flowing like it should be. The maps are very small and terrible looking. The design choices are terrible too. Maybe because I'm use to playing AAA titles is making me ask for too much, but all I'm saying this game does not compare to S4 League at all and if you want a real fun parkour/verticular style shooter just go play S4; not this rubbish-quality title. Just my 2 cents. Hopefully I didn't sound like too much of an S4 League fanboy. I also still don't get how this has more players than Loadout atm. That's pretty ridiculous and absurd. I really could go on a mouths full about why this just doesn't compare to S4, but then it'll probably look like I'm advertising for S4 League haha.

The difference is that in S4, you had the choice to pick that kind of build. On Gunz 2, it's forced on you. On that note, does anyone actually LIKE the fact this is class-based, or are they just taking it with a "well, that's just the way it is" viewpoint? I used an smg, bat, and revolver in S4, but I can't bring dual-pistols, a bone-breaker, and a shotgun with me into Gunz 2.

Almost every melee weapon killed in just one hit because crits weren't random (if you thought they were, you didn't play S4 enough).

Yes, if you aimed at the head while slashing. But unless the person was standing still, it was pretty hard to do. At least that is what I learned from the recieving end, since only daggers and CS comets tended to one shot me.

-Mind, I think having it that way, crits if you aim at the head, was incredibly stupid.-
Edit: I have been corrected, you slash horizontally through the center of the body.

I can completely disregard S4's "variety", due to the ever-going major imbalance of weapons. Also, I'd be fine with the class system, if there were more weapon types to choose from.

Also, criticals in S4 were done by hitting the center of their body, horizontally, that is. Though, some weapons, like the Spy Dagger and EXO scythe are unable to perform critical hits.

I was around level 70 on that game and played it for a good 3 years...

S4 league the game mechanicly was more challenging then GunZ 2...

GunZ 2 is easier but... the game itself isn't a failure...

S4 league failed due to the pay 2 win aspect, what's keeping GunZ 2 apart right now is there is no pay 2 win factor.

A level 1 can easily kill a level 20...

There is no pay to win in this game and the advantages a higher level player has isn't a game changer.

This game will be successful assuming that Maiet doesn't go down the pay 2 win path and even when GunZ 1 was released that game was heavily skill reliant and cash shop items were mainly bought for cosmetic reasons.

There was no acutal pay to win factor in there as skill was the most important, since it's Maiet they'll be following the same pursuit.

This game is fine and I prefer it more then s4 league since there is no pay to win.

GunZ2 has players.

S4 League does not.

I' downlaoded it again today and the US server had less than 30 people on. Most already in-games.
What S4 are you playing? I'm pretty sure EU servers are always full especially on weekends and events. It may not be that popular in the US, but S4 definitely has a big playerbase in other foreign countries like obviously in Korea.

@Net: I am unsure at this point. On one hand, it makes balancing easier, as you are balancing a collective group of weapons/skills against each other vs any possible combo of weapons.

On the other hand, I'd love to run around with something more medium range in addition to my smg.

Perhaps a hybrid system of character's melee+characters unique weapon+a choice of common weapons between all classes. This would mess up max's gig though.

No, you centered your character on them, you didn't aim for the head. It was actually pretty easy to do. You couldn't do it with dagger since, I'm pretty sure, criticals on dagger were both random and completely unnecessary.
I don't even know why they removed the dagger and pistol combo and the shotgun. I can understand differentiating the classes so that they can actually be called legitimate classes, but at its core GunZ 2 is more about versatility and technique. Each class already has specialized weapons and techniques to go along with them. Not to mention, their Z skills differ. I'd really like to see GunZ 2 have just about half of S4 League's amount of weapon variety.
I have edited my original post, since I was wrong on the criticals. (though I contend it was easy, that or it wasn't always a one hit kill.)

I'm still editing and revising my original post too.
Imagine GunZ 1 and GunZ 2 getting released side by side, both with the same quality of graphics. Which one would people regard as better? Think about it.

Sure GunZ 2 isn't a total failure, but GunZ 1 could claim quite a bit more than not being a total failure.

wait, you mean for this game? The Strider? He looks awesome to be honest.
Netsa 26. úno. 2014 v 15.25
It was easy, but it was only a one-hit kill if you were wearing basic PEN clothes or naked. Which no one is anymore, so nothing ever one-hits anymore (unless you have an FP). I remember the day I did a critical hit with a storm bat and no matter how many times I did it, it wasn't a one-hit kill. It was a sad day.

Also, I'm pretty sure alternate weapons for classes is coming. Why it's not here yet, not sure.
Honestly, I don't get how someone could call S4 League out on balance without the giant elephant in the room of Gunz 1 that is
Top Tier
Revolver
High Tier
Burst Weapons
Don't Bother if not a tumble maniac tier
Any automatic
