Do you know if theres a similar file for Injustice 2?
im using a 3rd party ps controller and it keeps showing xbox buttons instead of ps buttons
That probably means that game supports direct input controllers but doesn't support DS4. DS4 is essentially a direct input controller that's why it works but since DS4 itself is not spesifically supported it doesn't provide any PS button symbols so it shows generic button names for direct input controllers.
Solution:
Try to trick the game into thinking that you are using an xinput controller. You don't need an external program for this as steam already has a solution for this. Just use steam input. Alternatively, you can download DS4windows which is a software that takes DS4 input and emulate an Xbox360 controller or a DS4 controller (basically DS4 to DS4 emulation). DS4 to Xbox360 emulation on the program does what steam input does. Tricking the game into thinking you are using an xinput controller. DS4 to DS4 emulation can be used if you want to customise the way you want to use controller as it will allow greater customization in games... you can also use xbox360 mode for customization too.
Downside is that it will not show ps buttons but instead it will show xbox buttons. My suggestion is that before attempting to solve the problem, check whether there is a PS button mod.
Edit: it seems this thread was recently necroed. So this is not a new problem someone just faced. : D
If you can't find it then you will have to choose between generic button names or xinput names. xinput may seem confusing at first as Square will be X while X will be A... but in some games... you just get used to it as some games may not even have mods for this. It may be tricky at first so keep an eye out on an xbox controller schematic while playing at first.
Edit: I know it is off-topic but I think Ryse: Son of Rome was the game that thought me xinput while playing on DS4. It was actually great for learning controls as the events you do is specified by xbox button colours... so in time you match colors with directions... and directions with button names. I wish there were other games that made it easier to learn xinput as DS4 button names are so much different. : D
Done.
You should check whether you are using an direct-input to x-input converter in your pc. If you don't have such program then it is the steam input itself and you need to disable it for INJ2... yes it can be disabled per game basis. You don't need to close it generally.
