Heck, I get picked on in the arena because I have a pretty terrible defence team and can't get revenge because of all the level 100s with what're essentially invincible teams as far as I'm concerned.. and I feel like the "Novice League" is just a fancy way of letting new players get some rewards before being abandoned into the pit of max levels with like.. Vampire Carmillas, or enemies you legitimately have to bring status removal or defence ignoring for (and if you don't have it, too bad).
I almost had the Chakram & Boomerang warrior for some PVE stuff.. but kept second doubting myself during the newbie summon event and really wanted to get rid of the "Hey, you have something to pick up" notification.. missed out.
Simple make a one team defense so you get attacked and loose and then fight this fights back and win. Normally the others that attacked you should have also a one weak unit defense. With that (and you can only be attacked I think 10 times a day) you will never loose anything and gain the points back you loose.
Arena (and more world Arena) is the endgame of the endgame. You need the best units and the best runes and the best knowledge to get further. Forget it now to climb higher.
The only important thing is the devilmon each week for the points you get there, nothing else is important in the Arena for the overall game. You even can ignore it completely if you dont like PVP at all.
If you like PVP and you only started the game because of that, you need a deep wallet and look into a lot of guide videos to know how to be good at it.
Or you forget it for 2 years and grind your units and knowledge free to play.
EDIT: or you only fight the NPC Rival Amir every time. You get no points to advance further in the Arena, but the points to buy the weekly devilmon and even more.
