Best Lightning Weapon

I've been making it through the latter levels well with the Lightning weapons lately, but now im stuck between which is really the best?
Pistol which shoots the fastest?
Rifle which shoots the farthest?
Or the Shotgun which shoots more "Lightnings"

?

Really im stuck here... Thoughts from fellow DeThroners

I mean, the lightning SMGG is literally just a lighting pistol but full auto at a controllable ROF, to the point where you can just hold the button down as you walk around a loop and never run out of ammo.

Lighting rifle, I personally really like it.

In my opinion that really depends on the situation.
I personally don't really like the Lightning Shotgun without Laser Brain, but when I have Laser Brain then it's a real killer.
The Lightning Rifle is pretty good for enemies that are far away and can become a real butt kicker with Racing Mind, but for single enemies it's almost impractical.
The Lightning Cannon is in my opinion the worst, because it hits almost every time an enemy that is just overkilled by it's projectile and the range of the orbs lightning bolts is not enough to keep up with dodging enemies.
However the Lightning Pistol is almost my favourite since it really helps out when dealing with a spawn that requires a lot of skill (see Big Dog fight).
In my opinion the Lightning Hammer isn't that much of a preferable weapon choice, since it's reall slow and rather weak, but what is really making it not so good is that the lightning bolts it creates are too short to be really effective since I don't dare to run into a crowd of enemies with that long of a "reload" time.
The Lightning SMG is probably the best of them all since it has an insane rate of fire and it's damage doesn't come too short, which is rather unusual for fast rof weapons.(Plus it's an direct upgrade of the Lightning Pistol)

My favorite is the Lightning Cannon. Like Redhell said, it's annoying to overkill a foe by shooting directly the lightning orb on it, otherwise it's excellent. Or atleast the gun and the projectile look awesome.

Lightning SMG brought me to the loop and I've learned to appreciate it.
