Personally I would play melting if he just had some lame and boring buff of damage output, would be more of a glass cannon.
But anyways you play him to get strong spirit, thronebutt, his ultra that explodes low-hp enemies, (and boiles + rhino skin i guess) and get Crown of Blood with that to just right click ur way through loops.
then its either strong spirit and boiling veins and using rockets
or rhino skin and either arrow or laser weapons and keeping your distance
impact wrists and scary face are decent with melting too
All day.
Erry day.
My problem is is that Melting is extremely luck based. The only times I was able to get past 3_3 was when I had Rhino Skin or Strong Spirit, AND spawning in an open area at scrapyard and above is pretty much guaranteed death.
Melting needs a few changes, man.
He is really hard to play, if you aren't the good enough with him then you need some luck.
Things to keep in mind are that his corpse explosions
1. also use destroyed props (cacti, barrels, ect.)
2. the expolsions blow up projectiles and can save you on open areas so use defensively
3. only deal 4 damage per hit and can at most hit up to three times.
So use his ability to protect youself or on weak enemies (like maggots, works well on after killing big maggots or rotting corpses and if you break a fake rad can it will nuke the screen if used twice)
useful mutations
Hammerhead will help make cover anywhere and very useful in open areas,
Boiling veins helps only because you will almost never have more than 4 health and it will give you more room to dodge and less to worry about,
Rhino skin improves survival,
Throne butt needs no explaination
Euphoria give a bigger window to destroy bullets
Long arms is useful because melee is actually really good with melting and helps hit enemies through walls
Plutonium hunger takes advantage of his passive but most importantly makes getting pickups a little safer, a deceptively useful mutation
Strong spirit also needs no explaination, if you get it Gamma guts might help save you from melee enemies
Impact wrists is good but you have to plan if you want to use it, melee helps hitting enemies into position
Both Ultras are useful if you get them.
play defensively, do whatever you need to do to not get hit
That is all the help I can give, and remember there is a wiki for this game.
In theory that's amazing....in practice though it doesn't work that well usually cause how often bloodlust doesn't proc and heaven help you if you're dealing with contact damage.
For Melting, it's best to go slow and steady. Throne butt is a must, so is strong spirit and if you can't swing that Rhino Skin. It's not so much that Melting is hard, he's just so RNG that it can feel unfun if you make one mistake.
because pretty much anything but maggots one shot melting and strong spirit was nerfed to only save you once a run, instead of that awesome can't die if over 1HP.
I usually try for Strong Spirit and/or Rhino Skin. If I don't get either of those by 3-1, I basically just accept death play till I inevitably get killed.
Don't get hit, you can get up to 13 mutations with him.
The practise is what matters
