Lightning Shotgun Hate?

According to this month's poll on the wiki, people really hate the lightning shotgun, which is baffling to me because I absolutely love it.
So tell me fellow Nuclear Throne fans, why is there such distaste for the lightning shotgun?

More generally about lightning weapons - they ALWAYS pierce for full effect. Not even heavy crossbow always pierces. Another benefit is they tend to stun monsters, so taking a Lightning Shotgun into Palace is not as bad as it sounds. YOu can circle strafe a dog guardian while killing other monsters.

People don't really have a problem with lightning weapons - they have a problem with any kind of specialized weapon. If you watch some good replays many go double shell weapon or double bolt or double energy etc to make sure they get only ammo for their favourite weapon.

Exactly. I flatly won't take a lightning pistol/smg/rifle because of that. Shotgun can't do it at least because of all the rails it shoots, but i'd still prefer something else.

I've had the problem enough to rarey give them a chance. The game is already determined to screw me, no need to make its job easier.
