Elite Enemy concepts and ideas.

Alright, for real now. Loops are shaping out nicely, and while there are still strategies, mutations, weapons and other issues, one of the things which will make the most difference with the game being done are the Elite Enemies. Currently we don't really have a lot, obviously. And we will obviously need some more to make loops "hard and not weird and overly cheesy"

Use this thread to vent all your hopes and dreams of Elites - and maybe if you are lucky JW will take a look at it and say "Hey thats actually pretty decent" and make an enemy like it. Not 100% like it, but like it. INSPIRED BY IT. SOMETHING.

So, to get it straight. I'd like to see Elites have impact on the player's weapon choice. I'd like to see atleast a single elite enemy to screw with every weapon "type".

We currently have something like this already in the game. Example? Sluggers and Crossbows. Completely powerful in the Crystal Caves and Frozen City, against a giant amount of tiny enemies though (FREAKS) it will get you killed easily. We do not have something like that against "medium" attack weapons - weapons which simply deal decent damage on a decent rate.

While I guess I'd rather see that as an natural enemy in the Palace it could also work as an Elite. Something like that everytime it gets hit it releases a bullet, which causes bullet weapons to be incredibly dangerous to use against it, yet gives sluggers and crossbows an advantage.

Melee could also get an Counter-Enemy, something like the dog guardians. Just quicker. Faster. And stronger, too. Something which is dangerous to get close to and will likely duck you over.

In general I'd like to see more "BIG" enemies. Large ones, large threatening Monsters which look like they could cut you in two any time. Like, half a Big Dog.

inb4 only van suggestions.

Something I kinda want to see is an elite raven that has much more hp and shoots either heavy bullets or bouncer shots like Lil' Hunter does. They'd obviously shoot a bit faster as well. It'd spice up the scrapyards a bit.

Also the idea in the other thread where assassins can disguise themselves as another enemy type could be cool.

An Elite Explo Guardian that acts similarly to the old Crown Vault Guardians. complete with shield/invulnerability when not firing? (I just really don't want them to be entirely gone)

You need to let it go at some point,we all let go of something important behind in our nuclear throne history,

Like fluury letting go the dream ofyung cuz being playable in the future and forgetting about it ;)

They were an interesting enemy, I'd like them to come back in some form too.

Elite salamanders could be a close range hard counter (for shells and melee)
Instead of a rotating stream, a shorter range 360 inferno. Really risky getting close.

A bigger version of the big maggot that is green and shoots a projectile each time it takes damage. Upon death, spawns 3 big maggots in its place. Crappy suggestion, I know...

An elite explo guardian that instead of exploding in normal projectiles, it explodes into a plasma-cannon format?

Remove fire traps, replace with Elite salamanders that fire in 4 directions.
Elite crystal spider, bigger, creates webs.
Elite snow tank, bigger tank, with an actual cannon(honestly normal tanks should have cannons)
Elite rhino freak, more mutated, slower, breaks walls.

I'd like to see more enemies that explode the way Snipers do, especially as elites; it would give you a tactical decision of whether or not it's worth it to focus-fire on them (when loops are so hinged around crowd control) to blow out a number of smaller enemies and open up the map.

Also: Beachhead Turrets. Much bigger, much more HP. Fire patterns similar to Big Dog, spawns Bandits when injured.

Also: Amorphous Guardians and Dog Guardians taking a page from Dungeons and Dragons that split into mini-Guardians when hit with Bolts, Lasers, Screwdriver, Energy Screwdriver, Energy Sword, but not Slugs, Shells, Bullets, Sledgehammer, Plasma, etc.

I think more pattern-fire elites would be particularly interesting for loops, especially if the spawn logic and/or their AI tended to place them away from the player, functionally turning them into objectives to clear by hacking and blasting your way through loop waves.

True. I guess a tiny bit increase of reaction range would do the thing.

On topic though.
Elite snowbots. Notably bigger in size and HP(~80).
Has MUCH longer charge distance, but instead of charging directly to player, has more of a "charging around in circles" pattern. Cars touched by them while charging are pushed away(not exploding in the end of the way by themselves). Smth like they do on the ice.

Elite rhino freak.
Actually I would like to see a bit of "other way around" on those ones. HP might stay around the same, but the speed of approaching would increase. Maybe some sort of charge? Like it starts slowly increases speed towards you unless getting damaged; and then speed resets\reduces.


The main thing still is, whatever our beloved JW might think about topic's suggestion, the main idea is surely right. BRING MORE ELITES! WANNA WANNA
