Some sprites should be HIGH res

I was initially pleased when I unlocked the Fish B skin. Then I realized it looks like crap in game. You can't just scale down a detailed picture and make it look good in low resolution!! Wrench looks bad for the same reason - there just isn't enough pixels.

So there are two options:
a) throw away the detailed sprites and remake them from scratch
b) allow high resolution for detailed sprites only.

I think b) is the way to go.

They didn't scale down a high res picture, though. Anyone who watched the stream where they did the sprite for Fish's b-skin can tell you it was made for that size.

The game runs at a native 320x240, and those are 24x24 sized sprites. That's the highest amount of detail you can fit into those.

The only thing that needs to be done is removing Fish's toothpick from the world sprite. I was in that stream when Paul made the sprite, and I understand his reasoning, but it still looks like a hillbilly's broken tooth no matter how you spin the tale.
