Zeus' Lightning, a crossbow that requires both energy and bolts, shoots a big arrow that caues lightning splash on impact.
An explosive "trained" slug. Ideally they might be akin to the green ones. With an obvious bomb/nade strapped to their back.
Balance is tough, you could make them "slightly controllable", directly controllable (freezing the player temporarily), "programmed" to seek the nearest enemy, or just aimless wanderers.
You could release a few of them, or one at a time, with firing a second time being the detonator.
I know this messes with the action aspect, and could become an adrenaline killer...
Just wanted to finally spit it out, as I've held onto this idea for, as I said, months.

(side note - I like the idea of weapons that use combined ammo types. Incendiary guns (explosive + bullets) is a good start. Dragons Breath too...)
or some other weapon using only the small explosions, a different type of explosive weapons.
Basically a crossbow that launchs a grenade type bullet that when hitting someone, or after a few seconds explodes with splinters in ever direction!

ignore the bad sprite.
shoots sound wave that gradually expands and disperse when it hits a wall/enemy.
you can hold LMB to charge it and it'll fire even bigger sound wave.
enemies that are hit will be knocked back.
no charge - 2 damage, fully charge - 20 damage or more
Baseball Bat : Sledgehammer damage, causes enemy corpses and reflected bullets to do extra damage/go faster
Boomerang : Of course.
Slow Slugger : Later game slugger, fire large slug which travels slowly but accelerates upon every wall collision. Each wall collision also resets the slug's "lifespan"
Quantum Gun : Plasma gun whose projectile travels through walls and wraps around the screen.
Big Bomb : Costs 55 Explosive Ammo. Clears the screen.
Rips out 1 tile of closest to cursor wall and launches it at you at a nice speed damaging everything standing in the path, works like crossbow, but does more damage and can hurt you too.
Consumes Energy.
* Cryothrower/Frost launcher:
Slows/Freezes(when hit multiple times) enemies.
Creates destructable ice walls if fired at an empty tile(maybe with enemies frozen inside if fired long enough at an enemy)
Shoots like a Flamethrower/Flare gun. consumes Explosives & Energy.
Not a new weapon, but I would like to see Disc Gun get a BIG homing boost from bolt marrow that gave it a reasonably tight turning radius. Or perhaps a lower-damage "Smart Disc Gun" variant.
The Swarm - an automatic launcher that fires small, homing missiles.
Toxic Launcher - a grenade launcher that explodes in a cloud of toxic cloud (on top of a regular explosion), dealing extra damage to enemies.
Wastethrower - a toxic cloud flamethrower.

Some sort of grenade that spits out other projectiles when it explodes. I was thinking it could be a frag grenade that fires shotgun pellets out of the explosion, but then I realized that's pretty much what the flak cannon does. So, instead of shotgun pellets, how about the explosion releases:
-Miniature grenades which use small explosions

-lightning rails
