Why do you even mention Auto Crossbow when there's Heavy Auto Crossbow ?

I mean, it's an auto weapon that one shots loop 1 snow tanks, buff aligators, elite ballguys, elite grunts, elite inspector, plain shielders (elite takes 2), 2 hits a golden snow tank. It has amazing synergy with Impact Wrists, enemies are dropping like dominoes. It's also incredibly ammo efficient. I can face the loop 1 Throne 1 and have enough ammo to kill it. With most other weapons I would have to frantically collect pickups in a sea of green. It hits harder than energy hammer for 1/5th of ammo. The DPS is also better than Auto Crossbow, which deals less than half damage and doesn't fire twice as fast.

So why do so many people praise the Auto Crossbow ? Rooting for the underdog ?

because the heavy auto is slow and wonky as ♥♥♥♥

takes up too much ammo to be good since the auto cross is good as it is

plus it seems to suck with bolt marrow and the auto cross is really REALLY good

Once they changed bolt marrow to be significantly less effective on heavy bolts and with the nerfed fire rate, the Heavy Auto Crossbow just became less useful.
It takes two bolts to fire and most enemies on loop will only take one bolt to kill, so often times a shot from a HAC vs and AC is just a waste.

It's slow, has potato accuracy and doesn't really home. So it's fine when you have a big target or a crowd, but when you need to snipe that E-Shielder, it's not that fun.

And this is why I prefer the Super Crossbow over both the Auto and Heavy Auto : It works with bolt marrow, covers a wide area, pierces wells. And with trigger finger you basically have a Super Auto Crossbow. Plus, it has a fixed spread, so you know whether you'll hit your target or not.

2 words. Bolt Marrow. Bolt Marrow makes the auto crossbow one of the most efficient weapons in the ame. The Heavy Auto flatly doesn't work as well (or, like, at all) with Bolt Marrow. Without Marrow, the Heavy Auto is still slow and super wasteful against smaller enemies. It's good against bigger enemies, but that's it and the auto crossbow really does just as well.

But Bolt Marrow makes Heavy Auto Crossbow worse, so why take it ? It makes bolts not go where you aim. When you're shooting 2 bolts at once, you don't want to hit a crow instead. Use that slot for Impact Wrists, it's great against weak stuff and Heavy weapons, hitting hard, cause more knockback. Impact Wrists also helps with secondary weapons.

Elite Shielders is precisely when I love Heavy Auto Crossbow. Two bolts and you're done, they're slow, easy to aim at and fall very quickly.

Auto Crossbow suffers against fat enemies: Dog Guardians, Snow Tanks, Elite Shielders etc. It loses penetration and is not efficient ammo wise. Heavy auto deals 50 damage per 2 bolts, normal auto deals 40 and needs more time to shoot 4 bolts.

I carry a pair of weapons. Heavy Auto Crossbow and something for scattered popcorn enemies. I fire the crossbow at anything that needs to die RIGHT NOW and mop up with something like Blood Hammer, Wave Gun, Bouncer SMG...

The part I like is that Heavy Auto Crossbow needs no rate of fire boosters. DPS is monstrous as is.

Frankly, if you want a weapon to deal with big rooms and the heavy auto suits your needs, almost any cannon does that and does it better. Heavy auto will get rid of one gold tank, a plasma cannon will get rid of 5+ with one shot.

It's obviously just preference, I'll take the normal auto over the heavy auto any day, at any time.

Nobody praises it because it shows up once in like, 5 runs for me, and i see at least 5 auto crossbows every run.

You want reasons? Here there are:

-Auto is an excellent main weapon. If you try to use Heavy as your main source of damage, you will run out of ammo.
-The Auto is better at supressing fire.
-Auto benefits more of Bolt Marrow than Heavy.
-Heavy is very rare, and people rarely will take it unless they have Bolt Marrow...which usually hapens when they have Auto. And taking both is probably a bad idea, so people stick with Auto.
-Super Crossbow is better for crowd control than Heavy Auto.
-For large targets, there are better weapons than the Heavy Auto.

Let's just say I don't get especially far if I take Auto Crossbow + Bolt Marrow, but Heavy Auto Crossbow has never failed me.

What weapons are better against single targets than heavy auto ?

Yeah pretty much... No matter how you cut it, with the heavy auto, there's always something better.

I'd take the H auto over the auto.

It has better ammo efficiency per damage dealt and melts through weak mobs.

With bolt marrow and trigger fingers it takes down anything quickly.

It's just more fun to use imo. Auto cross gets anemic somewhat quickly.
