Nuclear Throne
ALL Golden Weapons drop from G. W. Chest on Hard Mode Pre-Loop
~ ~ ~
update:
I can confirm now:
tier 2 aka 'post-loop' Golden Weapons
DO drop from Golden Weapon Chests
in Hard Mode pre-loop:
Golden Assault Rifle
Golden Bazooka
Golden Plasma Gun
Golden Screwdriver
Golden Slugger
Golden Splinter Gun
This includes the six pre-loop Golden weapons, making 12 'regular' Golden Weapons.

This doesn't include the two 'secret' rare late hard mode drops for
Golden Disc Gun and Golden Nuke Launcher,
which btw someone on the wiki claims requires Crown of Guns too for now,
due to some bug in the current patch u99r1.
~ ~ ~

Will opening a golden weapon chest on hard mode before looping
give a chance to drop any golden weapon?
Besides the two secret hard mode golden weapons, I mean.

Everything else in hard mode seems to behave post-loop,
including the crown selection,
so I'm just wondering if anyone knows if it applies to the golden weapon chest too.

Otherwise I might as well farm them on Normal Mode loops instead,
via weapon drops and/or stopping by Y.V.'s mansion.

Although the Golden Crossbow is pretty great vs. scorpions and snipers in desert.

So from what I can understand, for golden weapons to drop both as normal weapon drops and for post loop ones to appear in the golden chests, you must be at a high enough difficulty.

The Golden Weapon Chests don't seem to follow the regular weapon drop rules though,
because it allows half of the (non-secret) golden weapons to be available as early as '3-2',
when they don't normally drop all the way until first loop's '1-1'.

I might have to just test whether the 2nd tier golden weapons drop from the golden weapon chest pre-loop on hard mode then, just to be sure.
I suppose if I get none of them after 4 or so tries then it's unlikely, because it's a good 50% chance to get them.

Thing is, I think that it would be fastest (but tough) to farm them in Y.V.'s mansion on Hard Mode,
than to have to go all the way over there post-loop.
Hell, might as well farm for weapon drops in other ways by that time in a loop anyway,
since they're available in the regular drops by the first loop's '1-3'.
But I guess a 50% chance from those chests is better than the rare chance other ways,
just would have to drag a screwdriver around for awhile and/or get lucky.

This is correct - golden weapon chest at 3-? has it's own pool rules.

Pre-loop it may contain golden wrench, machinegun, shotgun, crossbow, grenade launcher, or laser pistol.
Post-loop golden plasma gun, slugger, splinter gun, screwdriver, bazooka, and assault rifle are added to the pool.

H1 counts as L1 for most conditions so you would find those extra weapons in the golden chest.

Interesting... I played Hard Mode a lot, but since I never bothered to go to the Mansion, I didn't know that.

I guess H1 really does count as L1 for most things. Off the top of my head, the only exception I can think of is the presence of vans (thankfully).

Haven't played much of U99 but previously the golden car would kersplode well before you could ever get to it, so few people know about the workings of loop y.v room

Yes, that's very likely to happen given the high number of enemies, especially since some of them explode or throw cars. Can snowbots even pick up Y.V.'s car and throw it? They might be able to.

And people are unlikely to be using a Screwdriver at that point. They're more likely to be using a highly destructive weapons that will further decrease the chances of the car surviving the combat.

You could probably do it easily enough in L1 or L2 if you actively tried, but again, no one would bother. There's no reason to.

There were a few fixes to make sure that the car would still be intact when the level starts.
Previously it could explode due to collisions with chests (which have similar spawn conditions and remove props if they spawn on top of them) or not spawn at all due to poor conditions (is supposed to replace a random faraway prop, of which there can be none sometimes).

Snowbots can't grab the golden car, it's a different type of prop (despite the apparent logic to this).

That is correct, although the car is usually tucked away in the furthest corner of the level, so may survive the combat if you weren't shooting SPC in all directions.

I believe the furthest loop that someone went to mansion on is L8 (VOD[www.twitch.tv]) - screwdrivers can still be found at late loops so an opportunity may present itself.

Oh yes, I figured the car was a different prop but you never know when a wily developer might decide to tweak it to allow it to be picked up. They's sneaky peoples, thems.

I saw that L8 Mansion thing a while back. Takes a special kind of person to be in L8 and think "Oooh, Screwdriver!".

And that L10 Oasis thing, well, I don't even know how that's possible.

You fixed the bastard props spawning on top of props thing? Dang that's good. I always felt disheartened when I spawned into a level and heard explosions.

Any kind of screwdriver can fix it as well which is nice

I want to love Screwdrivers so bad... I grabbed a Golden Screwdriver on Plant for fun and I often pick Energy Screwdriver when I find it early, but sadly they're not viable for the loop because of the huge number of enemies and the heavy IDPD presence. You want a wider arc for defense and you don't want a lowly IDPD grunt to instantly blow you up by throwing a grenade directly at your weapon.

It's weird how the Wrench is one of the best weapons in the game and the Screwdriver is one of the worst.

the energy screwdriver is sorta viable on steroids, with another melee it turns you into like a living cactus anything that touches you gets pricked and with a gun it gives you like a parrying dagger.

I'd love nothing more than to run around on Steroids with two Golden Screwdrivers, or use one on Y.V. with Ima Gun God... it's just that Wrenches provide better defense and repel projectiles/grenades instead of instantly blowing you up.

Honestly I'd probably still try Screwdrivers if only they didn't blow you up. I'm fine with using inferior weapons once in a while, but not that inferior. Not only is it nonsensical balance-wise, but... I mean, you're stabbing at someone with a Screwdriver and happen to hit a thrown grenade mid-air? That's some bovinefeces there.

Ah well. RIP Screwdrivers.

I still use the Golden and Energy ones pre-loop.

Interesting. I've always reflected the projectiles at her for extra damage, but I've also had to deal with the projectiles from a deflected ball exploding elsewhere on the screen and having to go to that place to reach ammo and HP drops. Simply destroying one to get rid of it forever wouldn't be a bad solution in itself, and the ability to instantly access the pickup would be a nice addition too.

Still, you'd have to go through the HQ without blowing yourself up with the Screwdriver...

Yeah, I would have made the same guess about the golden chest thing, too. Chests don't usually take anything into account aside from your Portal Level, who could have guessed that this one actually checks if you're in a loop or not?

I can confirm now:
tier 2 aka 'post-loop' Golden Weapons DO drop from Golden Weapon Chests
in Hard Mode pre-loop: I got a Golden Plasma Gun this time.

There hasn't been any trouble so far with Y.V.'s Golden Car exploding in the scrap yard.
Ever since the patch fix that stopped those 'explode at start' prop problems, like has been mentioned earlier in the thread.
The only reason it explodes now is if you fight too close to it that enemies accidentally destroy it.
