IIRC PS controllers work awfully with PC games, you need some missing drivers to get them working.

Yeah, but the game's better with a mouse.

They sell USB mice. I use the basic 7 dollar amazon one.

Works better for me.

I own the game on PC and PS4. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that it's way better on PC with the keyboard and mouse. The accuracy and response time is just all that better. IMO.

Playing with a controller would cripple you.

The PS4 controller should work if its recognized as a DirectInput device.

Have you tried configuring Steam to auto-match controller via Steam - Settings - Controller? It has a setting specifically for PS4 controllers.

It detected my 360 controller automatically.

I had to install a bunch of guffins just for it to finally recognize my DS 3 controller.

The opposite - xbox controllers use XInput interface, which is the most commonly used for modern Windows games. DS controllers use a mixed DirectInput interface, which is older (haven't seen much revision since DirectX8 / 2002), but still supported in many games and engines just because most "noname" controllers don't use XInput. Select DS controllers don't use a standard-type interface at all and require additional drivers for PC to make any sense of them.

Nuclear Throne looks for XInput controllers by default.

Steam's controller options allow to automatically map a DirectInput controller to XInput interface, as well as adjusting any other oddities (like swapped/inverted axes).

The thing is, my ps4 controller works with my other steam games except for Nuclear Throne.
i tried the game with my friend's Xbox 360 controller and it worked fine however...
is there any definite way to get the PS4 controller working as the button layouts are in the options....
