Actually, I think the achievement does say specifically to sit.

It said "reach" the throne when I did it, and the game hasn't exactly been updated since then, sooo probably not.

Right, better safe than sorry. I can confirm sitting on the throne unlocks it since that's how I got it.

Well, that's how pretty much everyone got it, atleast I haven't heard of someone unlocking that while looping.
