How can i start a run with a crown?

i am new to this game but i got to a crown vault, took the crown, left and died at the junkyard boss. i checked the section where you can choose the golden gun, skins, and such and the crown wasint there! i have looked up how to do it and veen the wiki wont help me! please help

You have to sit on something or loop the game while the crown is active to unlock it. If you died without sitting on something(which ends the run with a win) or reach the next loop with a crown, you don't keep it.

For preloop crowns, this means you'll have to beat the Throne regardless since you can end the game by sitting on it or go further than that by looping. Post loop crowns have those methods as well, but there is another spot you can sit with your character, which is optimal for postloop crowns since it's faster than double looping.
