EDIT: If Styx is climbing up when you don't want him to, you're probably accidentally pushing the jump button twice. Even a little bit will be enough to make him go up.
You can also run instead of crouch, as long as close to the time you go off the ledge, you press the SHIFT key. So damn important to know that!
As for climbing up, if you TAP spacebar, Styx climbs automatically. However, if you HOLD spacebar for half a second instead of a short tap, Styx will remain holding on to the ledge.
So much this.
I do wonder why isn't it exactly the reverse with the spacebar climbing, though. Would seem more intuitive.
I think thats where these complains are coming from. Besides not having a quick-save mapped, the other major difference with the controller is walking speed- thats all in the analog stick as far as ive noticed. Is there a dedicated 'slow/walk' key on the controller, can anyone confirm?
I believe the sensitivity, where the game changes from 'slow' to 'not as slow' with the stick speed tuning is what makes it hard. Only the minimal speed counts as the shift walk/slow it seens; any inclination more and you're a bit faster- somewhere around walk and 'running'- where the drop from ledges don't work.
All of a sudden I'm glad the game's not detecting my gamepad, so I'm forced to play with M&K
So far (at the incinerator now) never had him fall when dropping over a ledge where it was not my own fault or I wanted him to, in fact the ledge grab has got me into trouble a few times, so yeah, moral is just take your time and it all works like it should being a stealth game.
Yup, happened to me many many times with controller. Devs put a bit longer delay (decreased sensitivity) in a patch some time ago now, but it didnt actually fix the issue.
