Styx: Master of Shadows

Styx: Master of Shadows

The final boss... UGH
This is probably the most poorly balanced and impossible fight sequence in this entire game. Don't get me wrong, I like this game, but I seriously doubt that I will be able to finish it due to me heading in with just 1 bottle of amber.

- make yourself invisible (if you do not move, you stay invisible infinite)
- wait (maybe whistle)
- kill (6 enemies, 3 possible to kill with throwing knifes)

I agree. unfortunately I resorted to cheat because I don't want to waste time. they should have given us more ambers and vial of life.

How did you cheat? (I'm asking because I may find myself needing to do that too.)

The ending is really good. I'd recommend powering through it if you can.

I was in your situation too. After killing the first 3, I didnt have any items and ran out of amber. So I encountered those three invisible ones in a bad shape, only 2 hits would kill me.

One of the runs around the pit in the middle. You start behind that tree trunk.

1. Let one of them run in front of you, then climb the trunk and slay the first. Fall back to behind the trunk.
- note - they will detect you at this point.
2. One on the right will be first next to you. Let him come closer, then roll towards him and parry.
3. After killing, keep rolling and avoiding knives by the last one. Do your best to get closer and parry.

I had to try couple of times, but I made it. :) So keep trying.

It's not that hard. I beat it in goblin mode (Ok it was hell and the difficulty was made by trolls)
I just went into this fight with 3 knives. There are 2 (or 3?) more on the arena.
So i'd kill the first clone with an ambush attack and the second with a dagger.
Go invisible and pick up the 2 spares on the arena and kill the remaining gobbo (preferably in melee).
The boss then summons 3 stealthy gobbos.
Activater amber vision and take them out with throwing daggers.
Watch the ending cutscene.

Is it anything like the deus ex boss fights, I hated those. Were rediculuously hard since I had hardly any items to fight them. Kinda made the game annoying to replay.

Didn't fight any bosses in DX but in Styx you have to fight an Orcish shaman magicking up goblin clones in 2 groups of 3. With the second group being invisible (you can still properly see them and throw daggers at them if you use amber vision).
It's annoying as all hell in goblin/hard mode because they start throwing daggers that basically 2 shot kill you. Also if one spots you the other 2 are immediately alarmed so your best bet of beating the boss is saving as much amber and daggers you can (preferably having 3 daggers at the begining of the fight) so you can thin the clones out from the get go.

However even in sub optimal circumstances the boss is beatable... if only a bit lame and rage inducing (the ending is cool tmho).

Not the original deus ex, In Human Revolution, The boss fights were forced and uneccessary, I'ts annoying when that happens, esspecially since I'm playing on goblin mode, It should be nice and annoying, Cant wait to break stuff because of this rage inducing combat, Deus Ex HR, Was bad enough since I had to restart the game because I did'nt have any guns or grenades and had an inventory full of power bars n ♥♥♥♥.

Then prepare to be annoyed by the final fight. I can only suggest bringing 3 daggers. Killing 2 goblins with daggers and restocking (there are 2 or 3 laying around) and killing the third goblin from stealth and then kill the 3 invisible gobbos with amber vision + dagget throws for minimal rage. (also use invisibility when needed).
Thankfully Styx has a somewhat narrower skill tree so you won't end in a hopeless fight after spending all your skillpoints into charisma of whatever non combat skills you had in Deus.

Let us hope they learn from this for the sequel that will be out in a year or so.

Thanks for the tips, It is really dumb having boss fights in stealth games. Stealth games are not about combat, Its moronic.

I always viewed the boss "fight" as really being a skill check vs the difficult elf-filled maps before it. The better you are (saving your items), the easier the boss fight is.

If you have nothing on you but a single amber potion because you burned through everything you had and found, there are a couple freebie knives in the boss room but you're still going to have a harder time.
