Welcome to Grappledrome!
From 800North, creators of Dino D-Day, comes Grappledrome: a tense, fast-paced multiplayer arena shooter built around a grappling/swinging movement mechanic - it's Unreal Tournament meets Bionic Commando. Add to that mix a malevolent A.I. who rules his torturous neon Murderspaces

In the not-too-distant future, mankind leaves the flesh behind and uploads their minds to computers. Digital paradise quickly becomes a digital Hell when the Overlord reveals the true nature of his virtual realm. Human souls are trapped for all eternity, and forced to compete in the Grappledrome for his own twisted amusement!

Fire your grapple at any surface and soar through the map looking for the ideal weapon pickup before ambushing your victim from on high. Power your defense shield with momentum and jet past your opponent’s sights. Make spectacular escapes, swing past obstacles and find new angles to re-engage your enemy. Delight the Overlord as you kill each other for all eternity!

Key Features

Fast-paced, multiplayer combat
Grappling/swinging in the style of Bionic Commando
Jetpack to get yourself out of trouble
Unique weapon set with more on the way!
Offline play available in the form of Time Trial maps.
Compete for the top spot on Steam leaderboards!

Multiple game modes will challenge your skills: Deathmatch, Contagion, Predator, Murderball, and Time Trials.

Grappledrome is coming soon in Early Access on Steam.

hoped for ddd2 but this will do! :emofdr:
what about the price? whats the engine?

Your Overlord here. The price will be a paltry $9.99 in your human currency. If you are an owner of Dino D-Day, the crude precursor to my glorious Grappledrome, you will recieve a discount of 20%. The engine of your destruction is UE4.

only directX 11?
FeuerSturm Jan 24, 2017 @ 11:58pm
Are you looking for support for an older version of DirectX or a newer one?
By default UE4 is all set up to use DX 11, depending on the individual game developers
it can be made to work with DX 10 (older versioans not supported).
The latest versions of the UE4 engine do have support for DX 12 though.

Maybe the great grappleOVERLORD can enlighten us about his future plans! :steammocking:

It is as the pathetic human Sturm has said. DirectX 10 and 11 are currently supported in Grappledrome. DirectX 12 will also be supported in full in the near future as UE4 begins to take full advantage of its features.

What does weaponry look like in this game? are there multiple classes? multiple guns? This could be really awesome if done right!

No classes. You can hold a total of 4 guns with the option to drop and pick up new weapons. Right now there are 7 weapons but a priority in Early Access will be adding new weapons. We hope to have a large and diverse weapon set with lots of fun gameplay to complement the grappling.

Love that Arena no Classes style it leaves it up to real player skill and cunning. Can't wait :)

Just spotted this and it's certainly piqued my interest. Out of curiosity, how many maps are there? Or since they appear to consist of structures in the sky, are they proceedurally generated?

There are 4 multiplayer maps and 4 "Time Trial" maps right now. Time Trial maps are singleplayer. They are basically obstacle courses to test/practice your grappling. They're a good way to master the movement mechanic before the baptism of fire that is the Grappledrome.

Our primary focus (aside from bugs and stability) in Early Access will be to add weapons and maps (especially for Multiplayer). The maps aren't procedurally generated but they can be quickly prototyped and finished. We hope to have a rich assortment of maps, weapons, and game modes in the end.

Adding a map editor of some kind has definitely been discussed but it's more of a long-term goal.
