Is this game anything like the turn based game Space Marine one the Amiga? I know its baced on Space Hulk not Space Marine but I'm kinda hoping with the setting and turn based nature its not a million miles away. Do you get to progress a squad in the same way with promotions and kIt additions etc?

Very much considering a purchase

Thanks

There's no RPG-like progression of your Terminators from mission to mission. There are specialist types of Terminators, like Heavy Flamers, Assault Cannon and Librarian, but their availability depends on the mission.

The "Space Marine" game on the Amiga was also called Space Hulk, just like this new version. This version of Space Hulk is more similar to the board game than the 1993 Amiga game, but essentially its setting is similar (Terminators vs Genestealers in the claustrophobic setting of a derelict space hulk). However, the new Space Hulk is even more turn-based than the '93 game, as that was more of a hybrid.

So if you're looking for a modernized version of Space Hulk that is more faithful to the board game, this is a good choice. A lot of people here have also played the 2 Space Hulk computer games from the 90s.

Nah m8, there was a game called "Space Crusade" not "space marine" which i was thinking of. It was on the amiga but maybe also on early pcs. As kids me and my mates loved it. It was turn based and 1, 2 or 3 competing squads (blood angels, ultra marines and imperial fists) entered a "hulk" on a specific mission. You also fought orcs/goblins/genestealers and dreadnoughts. I was hoping it would be like a remake of that as it was great fun, maybe i've got nostalgia glasses on but it featured a relatively long story campaign, equipment choices, hotseat multiplayer and, if i remember rightly, your squads, or maybe just your commander, ranked up through the game. I guess this game isn't quite what i hoped it would be.

Yep, I gotcha now. Right, this "Space Hulk" is based on the board game also called "Space Hulk", and similar in tone to the previous 2 Space Hulk video games. Space Crusade was entirely different.

Yeah, i remember my m8 had space hulk but we could never get it to work on the lame pc he had. Still, looks interesting.

Yeah remember that game. Pretty sure it was basicly a 40k version of Hero Quest. They released Warhammer Quest, a more advanced version on IOS a while back if you don't mind the fantasy setting (and own an iphone/pad). Its turn based, characters level-up and you collect eqiupment/loot. Not nearly as tactical as Space Hulk though.
