Try this:
Click volume in your taskbar, Click "mixer".
If you are running Rayman Legends, there will be a volume bar for you to increase/decrease the sound of the applications. Check if the application is mute.

I got this off of some website I found on google, no idea if it'll work but give it a try.

If you are hearing sound only in cinematics, try switching between your earphones and speakers. You can also try changing the sound settings from stereo to mono which can sometimes prove useful. Also, don’t forget to verify the integrity of your game files.

Same problem here. Changing audio settings to whatever (stereo, sorround...) does nothing. Application doesn't even show up in the mixer.

Got my PC connected to my receiver via Nvidia HDMI - any other audio works.

Interesting, is it possible for you to connect video via DVi, and audio using the audio ports on either a sound card or integrated sound of the mobo with speakers of some kind to test?

I could check if my headphones do it via mobo audio, yes. Regarding the receiver, there is no other option than HDMI.

I am afraid that will do the trick, but it is no solution to me, as I need HDMI for passing sorround sound (Dolby, DTS etc.) for bluray and other games.
I installed Rayman Legends on a second PC that got speakers connected to the mobo. Sound does work fine there.

This is hilarious! I bought Rayman Legends to play it on TV via receiver in the living room using an XBox controller and this is the one setup which doesn't work...

I got no idea why, but finally this did the trick!
Grabbed out some earphones to check if mobo sound works. It did! As I reverted settings to play via HDMI again and restartet the game it works too now!
Settings are exactly the same.

If anyone got the same issue: Try activating mobo/soundcard sound and have the game started once. Then head back to your preferred settings and restart the game.

Maybe this helps...

Excellent

I fixed it by going into \Rayman Legends\_CommonRedist\, and inside the vcredist folder I ran the vcredist.exe aswell as DXSETUP.exe in the DirectX folder.

I found a solution (it worked for me on Windows 10, on windows 7 I had no issues)
you must go to windows featurs ( you can tipe 'features' in the start menu search bar and it should suggest to you "Turn Windows features on or off")
from this window, check the box coresponding to 'Legacy Components', also if you click on ths small '+' sign in front of it you should see another box with 'DirectPlay' next to it, check that as well.

I hope it helps.

if you are using it with HDMI and the audio is coming from your monitor then the fix is to put "windowed mode" on the game.

I know I'm way late. But, I figured I'd tell you guys how I solved the problem. If you get sound only during cutscenes and not during gameplay, and you're using an HDMI cable, your cable is probably only cleared for 16 bit audio. If you upgrade to a better cable, you'll probably sound during gameplay. That's how I solved it. I checked around in my audio settings and saw that my hmdi cable could only support up to 16bit audio. So, I got myself a 64bit HDMI cable and now I get sound in game. So, if all else fails, maybe it's that.

Hey there. I've got the same problem in 2019. I have another solution. The HDMI connector of my MSI GE72 6QF is powered by the integrated Graphics card (HD Intel 530). It didn't worked, when I wanted to start Rayman on my 4K Samsung TV. Only sometimes there was a Audio through the soundspeakers of the TV. I also tried Borderlands 3. This game had no sound problems (but it's newer as well). It was really frustrating. So I tried to run it on my older Acer Aspire V3 772G with an HD 4000 and a GTX760 (unimportant for HDMI). And it was running with Audio every single time. So I reinstalled Windows on the MSI. This didn't solve my Problems. So I deleted my Intel Graphics card driver and the Intel Audio Driver. I installed the old ones from the MSI website (2017). Now the game is running well with no Audio Problems. Reinstalling the new drivers brought the Audio Problems back. So I think Intel mad something strange with newer drivers. I will keep the old one now. Hopefully this will help someone.

Greatings from the ore mountains,
Alex ;-)
