This used to be called Soldier of Fortune on the SNES.
I wonder why the name changed.

Actually, orignal game (for the Amiga and Sega MegaDrive) was called Chaos Engine. The SNES game changed the name to "Soldier of Fortune" for some reason.

I don't think it did... I played The Chaos Engine on the SNES.

Huh. Must have had two versions. I rented it on the SNES as a kid under this name. Maybe a regional thing?

Most likely, come to think of it, a lot of video games undergo title changes. Resident Evil = Biohazard. I was just surprised to see this old school game on Steam with a different title. I thought I was going crazy for a minute.

Honestly, I barely remember the SNES version (hung out with a firend who rented it for a day back when it was released and we played it for maybe an hour), but perhaps it followed a title/subtitle format -- something like, "Soldier of Fortune: The Chaos Engine".
While they're bringing back SNES games... I would like to see a re-release of Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

In the U.S it was called Soldier of Fortune on the SNES. Why, I have no idea.

Soldier of Fortune is an absolutely awful name for this game, it just doesn't fit at all.

Is that the one that was called Zombies! in Europe? That was ace...

But this is based on the Amiga version, which is generally considered the "original".

Yep, that's the one! I could never get tired of it.

Thanks, for the info. It's the original Amiga port not an SNES port.

I think I have Zombies! on Wii virtual console. And a cartridge somewhere, I've a SNES in a cupboard somewhere as well.
