Let's put it this way: I've managed to get the game files open. Inside these folders are... literally no map files. They don't exist. It would be impossibly hard to just build a room, let alone something as complex as Slaughterhouse or Panic Room. There's a bunch of texture files, and XML files dictating how they should be laid out, but no actual map files.
Then there's the sound files, which for some reason have THICK static on top of them, so much so that it's literally painful to listen to them, and all the files cut out half a second before they should- so Hoxton's "Get the bags out! Get the money!" sounds more like "GHHHTHBGGSOUTTTGHHHTHEMONNNNN". I have no idea how these files are supposed to be usable, but somehow the engine makes them work.
That, and due to the way the game works, with the P2P hosting system, would make playing custom maps impossible unless all 4 people had the map independently- while I realize this is how it works with a lot of other systems as well, it's probably more than Overkill wants the average user to be dealing with.
It's bizzare they'd choose to use such an unfriendly engine and lock it down completely to the community.
I hope Payday: The Heist 2 is Modable.
The FIRST Thing they need to do, is use a COMPLETELY Different Game Engine and Not the "HORRIBLE" Diesel Engine.
A Better Gaming Engine will Help, as well as hopefully, make it run MUCH Easier on ATI/AMD Video Cards.
My Video Card is close to the "Recommended" Requirements, and I barely get 40 to 45 FPS on the LOWEST Settings, and 1024 x 768.
FPS doesn't get much better on even lower Resolutions.
I hope they have a COMPLETELY New Weapon System, Allowing Fully Customizable Weapons, as well as alot of other things.
Allow you to Actually "Stealth" a Mission, and killing enemies WITH a Silenced/Sound Suppressed Weapon (headshot) you will won't Alert Any Guards (Unless they find their Body).
That was 1 Terrible thing in Diamond Heist.
What's the Point of the Silenced Pistol if I shoot with it, even if it's at the floor away from ALL Guards, and everybody is Alerted the same as if I Fired a Shotgun?
Using Money you Gain from Heists, you should be able to Buy Weapons and Customizable Parts for Weapons.
Then, to Unlock Things (to be ABLE to Buy them), you get XP from Kills, Completeing Objectives, Completing the Heists, OR, Have 2 Counters.
Total Money you have Gained (Which will determine Level/Rank), and you use the Money to Buy Weapons/Upgrades/ and Other Things.
I'm Trying Not to Sound Very Call of Duty, which I personally don't play due to way too many hackers.
But some NEW Type of Weapon Customizing needs to be Done in Payday 2.
It better not be the exact same thing, with no Weapon Customizing.
I honestly hope they never do any of this.
While the Game is Okay, i can see why the Game Engine isn't used much.
It's just terrible. Runs slow as hell.
