PAYDAY 2: Screen flickering at 1920x1080 resolution
I am running Windows 8 64bit with a 670GTX. Video drivers are up to date. I experience constant screen flickering at 1080p (1920x1080), lowering resolution removes the strange flickering. I've also found that the flickering increases chance of image retention on the monitor (Thankfully stuck pixels are easy to fix).

I only experience this in Payday 2. For now I'm just sticking with a slightly lower ingame resolution. Any ideas on how to fix or what is wrong with my setup?

Edit: This thread was originally created for PAYDAY 2, but for some reason ended up in the PAYDAY 1 forums. I think this was because they used to be under the same forum but split.

So to clarify the posted solution below will work for PAYDAY 2.

Solution:

Go to appdata\local\payday and open renderer_settings.xml.

If you can't find appdata, open the run prompt (windows key + r) and paste this: "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Payday\renderer_settings.xml"

adjust the settings under renderer_config to match what your display device uses.

Make sure your video driver isn't trying to force any settings either.

This worked. I checked the nvidia control panel and made sure I wasn't forcing a global setting. Nothing there.

Editing the renderer settings worked. I found that setting 1920x1080 ingame sets the refresh rate to 25 by default causing the flickering/screen shaking. Changing refresh rate to 60 in the render_settings.xml fixed that for me.

Thanks for help.

It's hidden by default, you have to go to Folder Options and set it to Show hidden files, folders and drivers, or just copy paste this line in the windows run prompt:

%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Payday\renderer_settings.xml
