Dirty Plates - Easter Egg or something?

Anybody else seen the conspicuous dirty plates hanging on the walls at very specific locations? Diving into them makes a ceramic breaking noise. There's one hiding in one of the merchant stalls outside the tavern, another on top of one of the poles, etc. They're in weirdly specific spots which makes me think they're there for something.

I thought the same thing, and hoped I had unlocked an achievement or something or unlocked a specific character

I also tried this. however I threw the hammer at them to brake them. got all but the one above the train tunnel
