Story/lore related question. Do I need to play CM1 before CM2?

"Title" I know that both take place in the same world. Do I need to buy CM1 to understand the story of the CM2 more or is CM2 lore/story is not connected to the CM1 or is playing CM1 make me understand connection more of the story/lore to the CM1?

You don't "really" need to play 1 to understand 2 as such, and it seems written that way. However, the story does nod to things from 1 which is an equally great game and story in itself so I'd say why not, especially since 2's whole story isn't out yet.

I agree with Chaotic Kitty. While it is not mandatory to play 1 (you have a lot of informations about 1 in 2), it is way more interesting to do so before playing 2. There are recurring characters, references to events taking place in 1 and its DLC...
