How do wonders work?
I created my first wonder, the fated hourglass, before the end of the last day.

It says it gives 1 extra quest each day, but it does not slot into a village so I assume it works if it is just on your board.

The next morning I didn't get a quest though...do I need to do something else to make it work?

Did you build it?

When you get a wonder, it's non-functional and has to be activated in two stages. First with crystals, then with mana. (And a witch to do the work at each stage.)

Yes, I did the crystals and mana and it has an on/off switch which is white and to the right which I assume is on.

First you have to cast a wonder twice, as was said. After that you get finished wonder card with a distinct golden glow around it. At that point it provides its benefits from just being on the board.

The Fated Hourglass unfortunately has inaccurate description(or doesn't work as intended). It provides additional quest on any day you're getting one. So no additional quests on new moons, trader visits, etc.

ooh ok so it doubles received quests by giving a stack of 2 of the same quest.

That's a little worse than I hoped but still good. That morning I just got a moon event which gave me a void attack.

It won't be necessarily the same quest, I'd say on most occasions it will be a different quest. But yes, at this point it doubles amount of quests rather then giving one "every day". But considering that some future witches or added mechanics might also tamper with quests - "double" could become an inaccurate description in the future ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That wonder gives you an extra quest each time a daily (or full moon) quest is scheduled. That means, if something else happens that overwrites que quest giving, wonder won't create the extra quest.
