How to use an apprentice to cast a spell.
I got a council quest to use an apprentice to cast a spell. I have an apprentice but dragging them onto a spell doesn't seem to do it. Neither does dragging them onto an enemy nor doing the same with a spell also in the stack. I'm stumped.

Casting the spell means doing the spell action: for example for Alchemist spell - you need that spell, 2 crystal and a witch and you'll get an alchemist building as a result, but you could replace witch with an apprentice which will make him cast the spell instead :)

Yeah, any spell that creates a card like Alchemist, Summon Familiar, etc that "requires witch" can use an apprentice instead.

You still need the ingredients though. Fire ball is an attack not a spell though, but the spell to create the Fireball is a spell.

This is definitely not working for me either. I have Apprentices, but regardless of what spell combo I put them on, I get no timer and the spell does not cast. And yes, I have all the other ingredients.

To be clear, I put my witch on the other cards, timer starts. Replace the witch with an apprentice, no timer.

Can you share a screenshot with that stack after replacing witch with an apprentice?

I had this problem but I solved it, it was strange. I had renamed an apprentice as something, and then changed their name back to apprentice so I could remember what their job was.

Then later I retrained them but it didn't change their name. So I had a character named apprentice who was an envoy. Idk if this is what happened with you but you could check.

Oh wow, yeah this would trip me up too! An envoy named apprentice!

I think you can reset the name to default just by deleting it.
