How to get a shiny fish?

Hello gamers,
I am having some difficulties with catching shiny fish. It is the (second) to last achievement I need, but I haven't been able to get it. I have the maxed out fishing rod, but no matter how much I fish, I see no shiny fish. Is it just a matter of trying? I have been fishing today for like 2 hours. All the help is appreciated.

It's pure RNG. The Golden Rod boosts the odds a bit, as does a higher combo.
Odds for Golden Rod: 1/561 to 1/21 (at a combo of 108)
Odds for any other rod: 1/701 to 1/21 (at a combo of 136)

Oh yea, I was originally (read: "in 0.6") fishing so I could sell the fish and buy furniture for Holo House... I literally fished more of it up than I bought.

Also, if you do hook a golden fish, there will be 3 exclamation marks above your head instead of 1, so you better lock in.

I DID IT! I CAUGHT A GOLDEN SHARK :D

Now I just need to finish up like 45% of the characters to Gachikoi, but that is easy. I finished the first row, second row till Roboco, I got Kaela on the third row and on the fourth row got Pekora, Marine, Noel and Watame. Played some games with Ollie, Iofi, Shion, Zeta and Kobo
