So how did you guys find yourselves in the Hololive rabbithole?
For me it's thanks to Trash Taste's Joey (The Anime Man) and Connor (CDawgVA) roasting Garnt (Gigguk) over sending a superchat to Kiryu Coco during her 3D model debut stream.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kh6fRfd4Oc

Gigguk's own video on VTubers accelerated the fall. (To the point that I rarely watch Trash Taste or the boys' channels now...)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJ9mH4YC6MY

Before that, I was (kind of) already familiar with VTubers. Kizuna AI, Mirai Akari, Kaguya Luna... Heck, I even watched Virtual-san wa Miteiru which was my introduction to more VTubers like the HimeHina duo, Siro and Tsukino Mito (though I didn't know Sora and Roboco at the time). But besides those, I didn't really watch them that much. Too few or zero translated clips and subtitled videos to provide context, and the VTubers' focus was on the JP audience (plus hardcore weebs). Not to mention livestreaming as a VTuber was still in its infancy (or I didn't bother watching because of slow Internet speeds).

I guess once Hololive started its meteoric rise thanks to its collab with Azur Lane (sadly, no more rerun[s]) and promotion by the Trash Taste boys did I also (in hindsight) notice the emergence of clipper channels who make translated clips of the (JP) Hololive talents, making VTuber content more accessible than before. Ditto Kiryu Coco herself, whose bilingual ability accommodated both JP and foreign audiences (and then there's the guilty pleasure of tuning in to her Reddit Meme Reviews upon her return from suspension to spite a certain bunch of antis :P).

And now I'm here. Enjoying HoloCure for its solid gameplay is a bonus.

Allthough i liked anime and stuff, i was really sceptical about the vtubing thing.
Most of the time when i played stuff, where i dont have to pay 100% attention, i watched a twitch streamer (elajjaz - still do).

One day on youtube a short video was at my frontpage, where Kiara and Kronii played Diablo 2, and Kiara was kind of naughty (like she always is), and asked Kronii stupid stuff.
And i was like, wtf is going on? I thought those hololive vtubers are kind of, how do i say it, too seiso/boring.
So i watched some more clips, and a lot of them were really funny, so i decided to watch a stream.

And because i was always a minecraft stream fan (because it is a chill stream), i got to see where Bae and Mumei played together (joined by Zeta later).

It is still one of my absolut favorite streams, and Mumei and Bae are probably my most liked ones in Hololive, but i have to say, i pretty much like all of them.
Suisei GTA5 clips got me hooked
I fell in way back before HoloEN was announced. I kept seeing pictures featuring some sort of silly dog girl and figured "huh, who's this video game character? Some sort of visual novel thing?" When I looked it up I learned about Korone and Hololive. I watched both her Mario english-only streams and was hooked. Thankfully HoloEN was announced soon after so I didn't have to wait long to get streamers I can understand.
Fubuki singing that she want to beat a pineapple
Friend showed me some Pekora and Miko clips near the beginning of Covid and the rest is history.
I think it was random Gura & Amelia clips, then Japanese Vtubers accidentally singing the N word, then random Korone stuff, & it quickly snowballed from there until I was almost exclusively watching Vtuber clips whenever watching Youtube. Pikamee clips were a pretty big part of the snowball.

Found Vtubers cringe in early 2020

Then I saw Dank's video about Melody and found it funny

Around August I was playing Minecraft, saw the video where Pekora threw her Netherite Sword into lava and found it hilarious, but still avoided vtubers

Then 2020 got worse and worse and more and more things got political and then HoloEN came out and I was like "screwit this seems like a nice escape"

Been fun ever since
I am more of a tourist here than anything else.
I know little to nothing about Vtuber "lore" and references or interested in watching vtuber streams beside seeing a funny clip that my friend sends occassionally.

The game is quite mindless but fun.

I no remember precise how or what I had watch in YouTube to recomend me they, but I remember the names and the video topic. All start when I watched a video of Inugami Korone, Pavolia Reine and Pikamee ever she no had be a Hololive, all the 3 make a video play The Henry Stickmin Collection. Yes I watch they 3 full video play the same game, and in the end I buy the same game and play myself to. XD

After this I start watch more videos and know about more Hololive girls for all the groups, like Nekomata Okayu, Usada Pekora, Tsunomaki Watame and Shishiro Botan for the Japan. Ayunda Risu and they hilarious "No Stop Nut November" for Indonesia, and the English girls that I no ever know they have before, like Takanashi Kiara and Gawr Gura, and open the doors for me to other Vtubers to like Monarch and Shylily. Sad today I no have time to see all they videos I want because college and other things, but every time I can I see, and I never miss when release a new Holo no Graffiti, like this one for six days ago. ^^

A long time ago I saw a joke video about how the people need to save catgirls, at which point someone posts that they preferred doggirls instead and posted pictures of Korone. Out of curiosity I found translated clips of Korone and eventually found the others. Though there were times I stopped watching Hololive I still watched smaller clips from time to time (mainly Pekora), and then this game released on Steam, at which point [Hotel California intensifies] (specifically the last two lines of the song).
Been reading through the replies of this 4-page(!) thread again and I'm pretty overwhelmed by the diverse replies. (Apologies if I can't reply to them all anymore.)

From longtime weebs who saw the rise (and fall) of VTubing's "Four Heavenly Kings", to stories of fellow rabbit hole denizens who fell into it in relatable ways (especially due to the pandemic) and eventually finding their oshis (plus discovering other VTubers outside Hololive), to Vampire Survivors fans looking for similar games and being impressed by the solid gameplay of HoloCure despite zero to minimal knowledge of VTubers.

Well, hope you guys are having fun now with HoloCure 0.6.

AZUR LANE

A shame on what happened between China and Hololive. But I can't deny that their relationship with them brought in a lot of really good stuff before...the incident.

:steamfacepalm:
There was no incident, nothing actually happened. Chinese "fans" just got extremely upset over literally nothing.
Well, the irony of it all is, some of those mainland Chinese "fans" were using VPNs to bypass the "Great Firewall" and access YouTube--because YouTube is banned in China. And where do those VPNs usually reroute? Through Taiwan, where YouTube can be freely accessed!

That said, it was heartwarming to hear from mainland Chinese fans who still love Coco during her last weeks in Hololive (and don't buy the BS ultranationalist rhetoric spouted by those loony antis), and how Coco believes in the idea of "no hate" (bless her soul).

And thank goodness the EN branch helped Hololive bounce back from leaving the CN market.

I was exposed to eekam buukum (?) With Korone. But I only REALLY got into it watching clips of Kiryu Coco and her being a degenerative dragon.

EDIT: Actually my first exposure was the Elite N Word from when Miko played GTAV. That and "Go Home." As far as I can remember, that was my earliest exposure to Hololive as a whole

Well for me it is a really roundabout way. I was aware that hololive was around, but didn't really take note until I started playing FF14, which I returned to just last year December after watching a tier list by Lucy Pyre. Being the true degenerate that I am I followed her content (and still do to this day). It was only when Lucy did a cover of Calli's debut song, did curiosity finally get the better of me and I watched the original song sung by Calli, then got hold of "End of a life" and "Scuffed up Age", songs that literally blew my mind and quite possibly changed my life for the better. That is when my real intro into hololive started and I slowly descended into the rabbt hole, learning about all the hololive members starting from EN and then gradually getting to know the others via gaming vids, EN collabs and off collabs.
Friend of mine dared me to stream it. Went into it expecting it to be terrible since I had a strange hated towards this type of game and the whole Vtubers thing has always been strange to me.

Well, since that stream I have had hard time putting the game down and have even checked out a couple Vtubers.
Same, TT and Garth was my introduction.
I was getting a few recommended before, but never payed attention before that TT episode.
