HoloCure - Save the Fans!
So how did you guys find yourselves in the Hololive rabbithole?
For me it's thanks to Trash Taste's Joey (The Anime Man) and Connor (CDawgVA) roasting Garnt (Gigguk) over sending a superchat to Kiryu Coco during her 3D model debut stream.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kh6fRfd4Oc

Gigguk's own video on VTubers accelerated the fall. (To the point that I rarely watch Trash Taste or the boys' channels now...)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJ9mH4YC6MY

Before that, I was (kind of) already familiar with VTubers. Kizuna AI, Mirai Akari, Kaguya Luna... Heck, I even watched Virtual-san wa Miteiru which was my introduction to more VTubers like the HimeHina duo, Siro and Tsukino Mito (though I didn't know Sora and Roboco at the time). But besides those, I didn't really watch them that much. Too few or zero translated clips and subtitled videos to provide context, and the VTubers' focus was on the JP audience (plus hardcore weebs). Not to mention livestreaming as a VTuber was still in its infancy (or I didn't bother watching because of slow Internet speeds).

I guess once Hololive started its meteoric rise thanks to its collab with Azur Lane (sadly, no more rerun[s]) and promotion by the Trash Taste boys did I also (in hindsight) notice the emergence of clipper channels who make translated clips of the (JP) Hololive talents, making VTuber content more accessible than before. Ditto Kiryu Coco herself, whose bilingual ability accommodated both JP and foreign audiences (and then there's the guilty pleasure of tuning in to her Reddit Meme Reviews upon her return from suspension to spite a certain bunch of antis :P).

And now I'm here. Enjoying HoloCure for its solid gameplay is a bonus.

I knew about VTubers but I wasn't really interested until I saw some Miko GTA V clips and that just got me jumping between her, Pekora and Coco.

I never watch the streams and have never donated or have a membership, I just watch clips of the Vtubers I like on YouTube. I only ever bought Suisei merch.

Miko and GTA V... Ah yes, either telling people to "Stay home" while shooting them with a sniper rifle, or uttering the N-word like Lamar. Though on a different note, I also remember her mishaps with a bucket of lava in MineCraft.

Also does your Suisei merch include a Nendoroid of her?
Mostly from Koefficient's Diary of a Simpeffcient videos and Nagzz's Discovers series had me interested, the final kick was from various Sakura Miko, Kiryu Coco and Kanata clips.
I tried to dodge vtubers when people were posting Kizuna Ai, when GYARI started a vtuber group, and when Groove Coaster started up on Switch and was putting them in, but I finally failed to dodge when someone posted a Crossick video and said "Yo these girls are super gay." Then my YouTube got filled with, even though I started with a Niji clip, Pekora clips. I had no chance vs funny rabbit clips. After a bit watching translated clips of vtubers, I finally decided to live-watch the vtuber GYARI made a model for, because she actually spoke English sometimes. Pikamee totally sealed the deal for me. I really miss those models, and that name.

As far as Hololive specifically, I just really like the music.

Took the time to check out Koefficient thanks to being frequently mentioned as a big simpname in the VTuber fan community, found him to be an entertaining guy after watching him play HoloCure. And of course he got to interview well-known VTubers (including Hololive Indonesia's Ollie) and HoloCure developer Kay Yu himself.

Freaking YouTube algorithm, am I right?

Pikamee, huh? *whispers* Off-topic, but if you aren't already, may I interest you in VShojo's Henya? Heard she has some familiar mannerisms and a familiar verbal tic, dayo. ;) /off-topic

And yeah, these days I usually just go for singing/karaoke streams with my VSingers of choice--both within Hololive and the indie VTuber circuit. (Lara-san, konnichiwa!) And if I want to listen to other VTubers' singing streams, I check out their set lists first in case they have a song that tickles my core weeb memories. Though strangely I'm kinda averse to listening to Suisei (probably just clips of her anisong covers from her own singing streams).

Though I do check out gaming streams if the game they're playing has me interested, but can't play it with my Poltato PC (like Diablo IV). Or can and see how they do it (like HoloCure).
I randomly discovered Sensawa just a few days before she went away, probably cause of the "ok boomer" thing and coming from like a decade+ of watching dude Twitch streamers it was completely different and i was instantly into it. Then she disappeared without a trace and i didn't have any knowledge of how vtubers worked, so i didn't know where to look.
I checked her Twitch, every day.
I checked her Youtube, every day.
I checked her Instagram, every day.
I checked her Twitter, every day, got really sick of john deere tractors.

But doing this clued the YouTube algorythm in and it went "you like vtubers huh??? how about this RABBIT everyones watching!"
She laughs almost exactly like a dear childhood friend of mine so i was immediately hooked and Youtube has been all Hololive since.
Eventually there even came a EN branch that had a shark girl in it that i really liked for some reason. Mostly watch the JP girls tho, its just so different.

Nah, I bought her 4th birthday merch and it was a nice cap and a mug. I never tried getting merch ever again because it took almost till her next birthday to arrive lol.

Senzawa, eh? Umm...if you're already watching Hololive EN's resident shark girl, she might be more familiar than you think. ;) Hope she gets well soon and returns to streaming.

Speaking of Gura, got my first-ever HoloCure clear with her as well. Power of Atlantis is so convenient in herding mobs and love the healing upon defeat afforded by Shark Bite.

I probably just watch clips of Pekora's "War Crimes", though.

I'm guessing the delivery time was at the height of the pandemic. (Or that later surge of COVID cases in Japan.)

If I ever buy Hololive merch at all, it's definitely a Nendoroid. (Still holding out for my actual oshis, though.)

Anyway, Hoshiyomis be obsessing over the Mochidoru Suisei plush recently. Pretty sure some Hoshiyomis want the Mochidoru Suisei to do to them what the Amagi (Azur Lane) plush did to OC Gangsta in this video (minus the end part):

I watched a funny clips of kizuna ai but wasnt fully interested in watching vtubers till i saw a clip of pekora throwing her netherite sword into lava.
Random Korone clips being recommended by YouTube, leading to coming across Calliope Mori... all down hill from there, really.
Though I was vaguely aware Kizuna Ai was a thing that existed before that.

Funny clip(s) of Kizuna AI... Perhaps it's that clip of her Resident Evil 7 playthrough where she unleashes the cutest cluster f-bomb ever? (And one that predates Sakura Miko's own f-bombs.)

I swear Kizuna AI's cluster f-bomb clip still lives rent-free in my head...alongside Uruha Rushia's "Not pettan!" and Omaru Polka's "Poltato PC" clips. (EDIT: Also, Hoshimachi Suisei's "Hi, honey!")

Korone clips... So many points of entry to the rabbithole through those. (Yubi! Yubi!)

And Calliope Mori... While I rarely watch her streams (much less listen to her beats), I did enjoy seeing her on Trash Taste, that one Reddit Meme Review stream with Kiryu Coco, and she's pretty fun to play on HoloCure (at least after the 0.5 update).

For me it was a Youtuber Lost Pause, he was doing Anime Memes with Nagzz I think, and the first clip was about Gawr Gura, the DuduL's "This isn't a beach, it's a Bathtub" animation to be exact.

Few Days Later I subbed to Gura just as a light thing, started to get more clips like 1 to 5, how Calli cut down her christmas tree, etc., which lead me subbing to Calli and Kiara. Then I found my kami oshi Ina, a few days before Irys' Debut which I watched, and somehow spiral down to me now being a Takodachi, SSRB and a Brat, watching them as I chill.
saw some of their translated english clips + fan animations and thought they were funny and slowly started watching more and more and learning about them.

dont watch their live streams but i do watch clip highlights and fan animations occasionally.
