Do y'all think Fuwamoco are gonna be separate characters or together? Yeah I know theyre twins and always together, but I do think it'd be neat to see what Kay and team would do if they were each playable

I guess they're played together, like picking one and the other being a support character, maybe even the weapon of some sort. If they're seperated, then that feels like a wasted opportunity, given how unlikely it is to get another chance on twins.
Haachama already got a swapping mechanic so maybe not that. I could see them being something like Jacob & Esau from Binding of Isaac. Run around as both at the same time.

It's hard to say. On one hand I do hope they are seperate characters, it would feel more "complete" this way. On the other hand they are together SO often that they'd pretty much be considered a single unit already and there is stuff Kay can implement that would work ONLY if they are two in one (like Fuwawa being a notorious backseater).

I don't see a reason why not? Instead of their ult it's actually a completely seperate button to distinguish themselves from Haachama but other than that they are even better suited for a switch mechanic.
My idea would be have one twin be directly played and the other follows closely behind. Have one skill where the following twin doubles up your weapons and aims at nearest enemy, in exchange for subweapons doing less damage (but no less than 40% power at first level, then goes up to 60%).

I believe Fuwamoco will be like Haachama with the swapping mechanic but the second character will act like Ankumo or Watson's dog when it is not controlled.

All good ideas! I think a switch off button would honestly work, it'd still be able to highlight the twins as being separate people and personalities, but also keep them as a unit!

Personally I would rather see them separate but their special brings their sister not being played in to fight with them for a short period.

I don't think the swapping mechanic or the dual mechanic of treating one like a Pet mechanic really respects their actual individuality as people/characters. Like I imagine they get enough of that in real life at least give them the ability to play solely as themselves and not a unit for a game like this.

That said if Kay Yu ever goes the route of allowing (couch) co-op 2 player style gameplay then I would love to see 2 person units get synergy bonuses/moves when played together. Kay could do this with FWMC being the first to experiment with it.

It's definitely going to be interesting what Kay does with them! I myself would like them to be separate too, I agree completely with you that they should be their individuality respected

I argee with this. Having them as separate characters - but maybe shortly summoning the respective other twin for the Special Attack - could be interesting and more unique than just "swap character" or the summon skill mechanic (AO, Ankimo, Bibi etc.) From what I know, Kay did want to go with something that is specifically not just "swap character" for them. I could however see them sharing stats, i.e. if you get one twin from gacha you also get the other, sharing Fandom etc. Not sure how feasible that would be to code, though.

True! But their ruffians do look different from one another, that would take care of the fandom thing!

IIRC Kay Yu has said he doesn't want to do a swapping mechanic since that would make Fuwamoco feel too much like Haachama 2.

Kay Yu also suggested that you only play as Mococo and Fuwawa is just a ghost floating around telling you what to do. But that was a joke.
I hope they'll be like The Swans in Hotline Miami 2.

Both on screen at once, but each has a different function.
One is melee focused; (in HM2 Alex is equipped with a chainsaw, but can't use ranged weapons) and the other is ranged focused; (Ash starts with a SMG and can pick up various firearms, but can't melee attack)
They stick close together so the movement controls them both, and left click makes Alex swing the chainsaw, while right click makes Ash shoot at where-ever the reticle is.
To make it fair, since Ash lags a small distance behind Alex, only Alex herself takes damage.

If Kay Yu wants to make two separate characters, it would be funny if each had the other character as a support. So, for example, Fuwawa would be a long-range character with Mococo acting as his tank and Mococo would be a melee character with Fuwawa providing support. And then, he must create the movesets and other skills of both characters so that they are both totally different while keeping this Fuwamoco side through their respective pets.

And yeah, it's Deku Scurb who gave me the idea with his character from HM2.
he could probably (and might just be what he did/plans to do) ask them how separated they wish for their ingame representations to be and design things around that.

even on the extreme end of each being completely on their own with no reference to the other in their skills, them being twins could be referenced with a (super) collab or somesuch

They should have a unique ability where u can swap between them while fighting
