It's the exact same thing as a cancer, a destructive force that only knows how to destroy and only grows stronger and more destructive to whatever it has infected.
Don't expect things to improve. From my understanding, Hololive got funded by venture capitalists who forced Yagoo to go public or sell the company. Venture Capitalists are another form of cancer, they help businesses get started and that's great, but they can turn that same business into garbage just as easily as they helped it get started.
Money creates and money destroys. In my opinion this is just going to create a bigger market for indie vtubers not affiliated with big companies (I mean they exist but people are going to lose faith and trust in these corporations)
We might be seeing the beginnings of the Phase supremacy arc. I haven't totally lost hope in Holo for the time being (going public sealed their ultimate fate), but it sucks how buried in limitations they are, now. I'm actually kind of cautiously looking forward to a potential Gura graduation at this point if it means indie fun with LemonLeaf and others. A year or so back I'd have been devastated, but with these long breaks, she could come back roaring in a different, but similar form (assuming the best about her health conditions.. I'm pretty ignorant there. I'd also respect if she just wanted out of the biz by that point. I'll always have the memories and saved clips.) Ultimately, there's a lot we don't actually and probably never will know, and can't pretend to, but something's kind of felt off for a couple years or so.
It wouldn't all be cheering, as I very much appreciate what Cover/Hololive has brought us up until now, but gaming industry/publicly-traded corp antics have prepared me for an eternal nomadic churn through the life and death cycle of content. I've been prepared for the eventual fall since before the IPO.
In any case, think I'll go do a Fauna run. Game's still great and oshis live on.
Edit:
Nah, they're cooked. Just saw some stuff I was unaware of. Sad, but expected. Looking forward to Senzawa & Co. antics.
Like Haachama did, she’s focusing on her education at Uni and working toward her law degree, which she’s probably gonna wanna pursue a career with it and not stream forever.
Gura’s still a mystery, and the lack of details is definitely getting people worried, especially with the whole Niji debacle that happened in back in Jan, alongside all these back to back graduations.
As for what Bae and Shiori and the other talents say, I kinda agree. I’m always taking statements with a grain of salt. They are employees and contracted to COVER, so they’re not gonna go too hard on them, especially with many of them in Japan on Work Visas. Sure things are fine for them for now, but same could be said of Fauna and Aqua a while ago.
But don’t go all OP and be 100% Doom and Gloom. Caution is the key, and it’s best to just enjoy and support the v-tubers you like while remaining skeptical of COVER. The coming months will determine if COVER can reCOVER(Inaff) or if they’re gonna go down the Nijisanji route. Just gotta be patient and observe.
yeah, vtubers are gonna vtubing forever and eventually the number of talents would grow infinite. pretty sensible. yeah.
yeah, hololive pretty much dead. yeah.
make a thread on reddit too bro.
But i don't count 5 graduations no matter how you look at it
Though tbf, Fauna won't graduate until January, so that's NEXT year. Technically.
Plus all of the reassuring statements from other members including genmates, especially members like Kronii who have notoriously complained about management before.
The fact that they can complain about management without their VODs getting nuked, the fact that the gaming, variety streams, and zatsus arent going anywhere, the fact that they can take mental health hiatuses instead of working themselves ragged, the fact that the talents can leave whenever they want instead of waiting in a graduation cue, the fact that the company's official statements about their departures prioritize protecting the talent's privacy over making the company look good, the fact that worse "scandals" have happened in his community without anything like this happening (the copyright purge, Haachama being stuck in Australia, Aloe, Taiwan leading to the end of an ENTIRE BRANCH, Rushia's termination and subsequent scandal, Vesper & Dez, etc.) and most importantly the fact that the first ELEVEN MONTHS of this year were mainly full of positive events from collabs to concerts to huge events all points to this doomerism being unfounded and reactionary. The fact that it took barely 24 hours for people to flip from "everything is okay" to "its the end" is kind of saddening.
>A-chan
staff comes and goes, that's not a graduation
