Steam Cloud Saves reset my progress

I tried to continue my game on another computer, but instead of seeing everyone I had already opened on the main computer, I saw a balance of 0 coins and a standard pack of characters as from the start of the game without anything. After that, I had to return to the main computer and was horrified to find that all my progress was lost on it too. I began to dig through the discussions and found out that saves are stored in save_n. dat and tried to transfer it, but it didn't work. Then I checked backup_save_n. dat and it was also empty or already overwritten to a dummy without any of my progress. How can it even instead of continuing the game that I played on the first computer, when opening the game from the second computer, it couldn't download my save, but it was able to send an empty progress to the servers so that I get the same screen on the main computer, as if I didn't play at all?

Just disable Steam Cloud. Better to disable it on your entire account. It's really poorly functionally designed and never works well.

I’ve had this happen to me before. The cause of it was simply that my steam client on one of the computers was out of date
