Controller disconnecting (only on this game)
has anyone else experienced issues with controller disconnecting on this game?
I had only played this game for like 3 days in a row with what I thought was a fully charged controller and was worried my battery may be screwed up or something. I can't go more than 2 matches without it consistently stopping my controller and it turning off.

But I just played 3 hours of MKX no issue, so I know it's not my controller now. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue, cuz it's only been on this game .-. sometimes it'll be like, only 20 minutes after playing.

Have the same issue! I use a Switch Pro Controller with the Steam Controller thingy. Used to work fine and does on other games but keeps disconnecting on this one since the update.
Was wondering it my controller was the issue but if it happens to other people, there might be something there.

Yes, my 8bitDo Ultimate keeps discconecting at random and only in this game. It's super weird but sadly also super frustating as disconnecting in the middle of a run and standing still for about 10 seconds ends un in game over. I really wish the devs could take a look at this issue :(

oh so it's not just me...

If you're not using a Switch Pro controller, as a temporary workaround until the issue gets fixed you can try disabling Steam Input* or (if your controller supports it) putting it into an Xbox mode. That seems to fix it for a lot of other people that have been having this issue.

*Right click HoloCure in Steam > Properties > Controller > set Override to disabled.

If you are using a Switch Pro controller, unfortunately that doesn't work. The game will not recognize the controller at all without Steam Input. I haven't seen or found a workaround that works for them yet, sadly.

Found a workaround for switch pro controllers. Download the itch version and add it as a non-steam game. Just did a full run without disconnects. Save game is the same but I don't know how Achievements act when achieved in the itch version. Obviously they don't trigger on steam right away but maybe they get unlocked automatically on steam once the steam version is launch. Someone else has to test this though.

used DS4 and it keeps disconnecting too

Can confirm that achievements gotten in the itch version pop up after starting the steam version. So using the itch version is probably the best option switch pro controller user have. Unless someone finds a fix/better workaround.

I gotta admit, I'm getting pretty fast at pressing the esc button to pause when the controller disconnects. Helpless when it comes to fishing though.

lol that's an interesting workaround :papyrus:
My couch is too far from the PC so I've had to put this game on hold until this is fixed :(

Sorry for bumping, but are you guys still having random controller DCs? Last time I played I still was :summerghost:

Yep. hehe. This helped me a bit, though I can't really tell if it's an actual fix: (i looked up some suggestions on fixing this and tried them out) In steam settings, go to controller, then toggle on Enable Steam Input for xbox controllers. I also set Idle gamepad shutdown timeout to 'Never', for good measure. Though, again, I don't know if that really helped. I also disabled the controller overlay? was it? I forgot the term. (I can't look it up while typing this. lol)

Hopefully, the devs are aware of this problem too. But they on holiday right now so all we can really do now is wait.

Pushing this thread. Experienced controller shut down using 8bitDo Ultimate Bluetooth as well.
- Only happens when connected using wireless connection (2.4G or Bluetooth). Wired works just fine.
- Only happens in Holocure. Tried playing a bunch of other games and got no issue at all.
- It seems like the controller's movement input "jammed" and then shut down (say while playing, the character moved for a bit before the controller stops working).

I was looking for a thread like this. Same thing happening to me with PS5 controller using Bluetooth. Glad to know it's not my controller but the game itself. Hopefully it get fixed

Kinda sad this problem has been ignored by the devs since the update. And it was a great update too :/
