As I said at the beginning, I'm not well educated on vtuber culture. When I see all these different "holo-" groups it is hard for someone like me to tell if these are all from the same agency, or if they are from different agencies with similar names.
Again, "Play as your favorite Vtubers from Hololive!" is an affirmation of content is there, not an affirmation on what content is not there.
The store page is rather short in it's "About The Game" which is what I read initially which is rather short. Only being a single paragraph.
and "featuring the vtuber talents of Hololive and its surrounding community" doesn't help.
"Surrounding Community"
Again, look at this from the point of someone who isn't hugely knowledgable on Hololive. What does "Surrounding Community" mean to someone like me? Because to me it sounds like it's including fan content, which could include vtubers that aren't directly affiliated.
Sorry if this question is brought up a lot on the discussions page, but unless you have a way to contact the creator to make the Store Page more specific, the page doesn't exactly say "Hololive only"
those guest character didnt appear in those game for free... whenever a character from other game made an apparent in other game, they only could do so because they paid for those character to be appeared in the game... fan game dont have those luxury, they could add in but the company might take action for copyright infringement... this is one of the main reason why fan game or fan remake of a game often get taken down...
the main reason there are many hololive fans project and not much from other agency is because cover corp give permission to use their copyrighted material for free as long as those fan project is not a commercial project, aka they cant make money from it...
There are a number of family/friend/support staff/etc who are also vtubers or almost vtubers, who have a personal or working relationship with Hololive members, however they are unlikely to be in this game, since they are not official debuted Hololive members.
Purposely, the name of the main developer for this game is not even in the credits. He is also a creative part of one of Hololive's Calliope Mori & Gawr Gura animated music videos called 「Q」.
Hololive as a company seems pretty chilled about their copyrights. On the creative & fandom side, at this point they are going to be the next Touhou or Vocaloid only larger, as a demonstrator & incubator for creative & support talents. These creative & support talents are part of this surrounding community. Just like Touhou or Vocaloid, those many fan made arts, "comic"/manga shorts, animated shorts, full anime, songs, games, mods, etc don't just create or make themselves. `
Meanwhile, any big company would be a more complex issue because they might worry about their Vtubers being in a game with other Vtubers they can't control since one of them could always pull a PewDiePie or a JonTron & suddenly those companies might not wanna be associated.
Hololive and Holostars are the only vtuber companies that start with "Holo-". Both of them are owned by the same company, Cover Corp. as Hololive is the female branch and Holostars is the male branch. There are a very small number of other vtuber companies that have "holo" somewhere in their name, but they're significantly smaller, and I don't think any newer companies dare do that since it's probably a lawsuit liability.
There is talk that Holostars might be added to the game once all of Hololive is added. The description would probably become, "Play as your favorite Vtubers from Hololive and Holostars!".
Surrounding community likely refers to staff members that show up in the shop and references, and the fans. The enemies in the game are the mascots characters for their respective fanbases.
Why would an unaffiliated vtuber be considered fan content? Vtubers that hololive members have collaborated with such as Neuro-sama didn't create their personas specifically for Hololive. If everyone they ever collaborated with was considered part of the community, this game would feature people like Jered Leto and Robert Paterson. Even then, any outside people would likely just be referenced, not become playable characters.
However, it should be noted that they are only mods and are not officially supported in any way shape or form, and should definitely never be promoted in any official capacity whatsoever. While Cover owns the rights and the IP to pretty much all the game’s content, they are giving the devs a lot of trust and responsibility to handle it well. Hence the avoidance of any form of modding support, I.e. do whatever at your own risk or don’t do it at all.
There are two that I know whose fanbases have made mods for HoloCure, which is Reiny Ch. (character palette swap) and Pipkin Pippa (her own banner and character slot) - however the latter was subjected to some controversy due to usage of a certain build of the game, so at present the dev and modder aren’t on good terms… hopefully they can peacefully sort things out.
The reason this game is allowed to exist and use Cover's copyrighted characters is because the game has to follow their guidelines and approval. The creator said on Twitter that mods won't ever be allowed for that reason.
There will be other Hololive characters though, as the game is still missing quite a lot of members, and the creator said on Twitter that he plans to continue adding more characters.
Like Pizza Hut probably doesn't make chocolate pizza but it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask if they do when someone's going to Pizza Hut & asking you what you want.
At least a couple people on here understand this since they actually answered the question instead of treating OP like an idiot. I swear for some people their head would explode if they tried not being a jerk.
