Beetle should say in its tooltip which skills it would buff for the current character, since its pretty much a guess if its even doing anything for many characters.

My understanding is that it's hidden weapon type skills, Gura's whirlpools, Kobo's rain, Olli Jutsus, Belly Dance, Shion's portals and garlic (not sure on the garlic since it is technically a pet), Roboco's level up lightning field and battery static blasts, and Fauna's Root spikes as examples. It doesn't affect passives which yield buffs even if they contribute damage, such as Anya's living weapon, and I haven't noticed any difference with passive weapon rehit effects like Haachama's spider blasts, Anya's Cutting Deep, or Risu's Deez or Nonstop Nuts. Though further testing is requested.

Overall, I feel like it's a niche but respectable enough item, especially if your character of choice has a high damage hidden weapon, or multiple normally low damage ones.

Beetle only buffs skills which do direct damage, which means Friend and Bubba i don't believe are buffed. but Gura's Whirlpool, Kaela's "No Pressure" and other direct damage character skills get the buff. It's a powerful item for characters like Gura, Kaela, Robocco and others like them... heck it buff's Kiara's fire dance. The think about the beetle though is it's best to get early. because that +1% per level damage buff isn't retroactive. so if you can draw it first it's an amazing buff... but the later it goes the worse it gets.

a waste of item slot imo.... even on characters that have several damage dealing skills, its use is very limited....

It affects skills that says "deals X% damage" like Ame's Bubba, Shion's Garlic and Portals, Anya's Sharpness Aura, Kaela's Pressure, Fauna's Tree Spikes, Reine's Wind Blast and many more.

Beetle is very useful on Solo Weapon runs when using one of those characters.

Knowing what an item does relevant to your character would honestly be good for a lot of items, since sometimes it can be confusing. Especially for cases like Roboco where every stage of her weapon may be affected except awakened.

Beetle on a Gachikoi Ame makes Bubba immediately absolutely absurd and I love it.
He just becomes a mobile nuke overkilling everything.
