auto aim option
as the title says, can we get an auto aim option?

i lost both arms in a multiple chimpanzee attack on safari in '98 so i agree it would be nice to get autoaim.

Play a character who uses autoaim, like Ceres.

Edit: I may as well go all the way and list characters who don't need to aim. These three don't require any aiming at all.

Ceres Fauna
Tsukomu Sana
Aki Rosenthal

There are some characters who only require aiming sometimes.

Akai Hatto : Alternates forms, one doesn't aim and the other does.
Nanashi Mumei: Starts out needing to aim. Her weapon doesn't need to aim after awakening.

There are also characters who use wide sweeping melee attacks like Takanashi Kiara and Mori Calliope who you can do alright by letting them attack in the direction they are moving without aiming.

This is a good point. I think many are conflating auto-aim with something most of us aren't talking about. Like an aim assist that just plays the game for you. When what people are asking for is weapons firing in fixed patterns. Auto targeting the nearest enemy, or the farthest enemy, or firing in a circle clockwise, or fixed forward or diagonally.

Where aiming is based entirely on movement, positioning, timing.
"Auto aim" sounds like a cheat, so I can see how that may be throwing people. Ironically, the game is more challenging than a manual aim system.
True. It's like how no one cared about snaking in Mario Kart 64 because no one knew it had a name & it was just a natural strategy for anyone good enough to do it but then F-Zero GX had an incredibly unfair glitch called snaking so when Mario Kart DS came out & people heard it had "snaking", people assumed it was a glitch & a cheat & the devil himself even though it's just doing a mini turbo in one direction & then doing another one in the other direction.

Yeah dude I love Mel in Holocure. You can charge through the enemies and you'll survive. Upgrade Uber Sheep into Jingisukan and the Acerola buff becomes permanent. Once I got my build done, I can even go AFK and survive endless 40 mins (still need to choose upgrade on levelup). You may not be able to AFK your way through hard bosses though. Tried it up to Stage 1 Hard Endless, haven't got time to do more.

In addition to that, I'd like to add other characters which you can build and play like this (charge through enemies or go AFK, so directional aim is fine).
  • Build Okayu enough crit and she can just eat through non-boss enemies. The hits from Jingisukan is enough to proc it. You can't eat Yagoo though.
  • Anya's Slumber really shouts "go afk" (but Anya's Living Weapon doesn't). Anyway, your screen will be full of enemies so EN's Curse can bounce freely. I don't find it fun though.
  • Gura has 35% dodge chance and she gets 0.5s immunity after dodging. With Headphones, it results in 57.75%. Mind that she has close to no healing skill, and the immunity doesn't apply to Headphone's dodge. The immunity also doesn't work for delayed damage from Plushie.
  • Irys has 20% chance to heal 20% max HP when attacked, also 20% chance to heal 3 HP on crit (0.3s cd).

I know it's painful, but I'm sure they will survive.

The discussion still seems pretty relevant, and having a multi-page thread shows that the community is paying attention to the issue, that it's not a one-off complaint.

a multi-page thread where every previous page is from over 15 months ago showing that the discussion died 15 months ago. the thread ceased being relevant 15 months ago when people stopped posting in it. the responses from less than 15 months ago currently are a 2 word reply necroing a long dead thread and 5 messages (including this one) arguing about the necroing of the thread rather than any sudden outpouring of relevant opinions as to the topic of the thread. by your definition literally any necro is still relevant as long as you necro a long enough thread because well clearly it's not a one off complaint.

You do realize that the whole forum was pretty much dead and this game's discussion board only gets more popular around the time of new update releases, right?

That's why the thread died, not because nobody cared about this.

If you want some relevant discussion, let's talk about how the arguments here against auto-aim are flawed. I will start:

"There are characters with auto-aim in the game like Fauna" (paraphrased)

Well, this has nothing to do with the sugestion of auto-aim. Because every character can use weapons like Dragon Fire that still benefits from auto-aim existing. Playing those characters doesn't fix this, and "X character" can be AFKed is not an excuse to not have an accessibility feature for the other characters anyways.

Don't use builds that are going to rely on aiming? Even on the supercollab level there are more than one option for non-aiming weapons. And honestly the spider collab is still probably the safest option in the game.

The accessibility option is literally that various builds exist to avoid the ones specifically made for aiming. You can even as of this patch remove aiming weapons/collabs from your armory entirely.

If your argument is damage issues well...there's a stamp called the mark stamp which basically turns AoE into boss-killers. it's also still very effective even (especially) in hard modes.

The frustrating thing is, as has been previously established, this thread has been up for so long that chances are these exact words have already been said...but this is kindof the point of an aiming weapon being an aiming weapon.
