It wouldn't help the developer at all. I liked the game and if you like it as well he would need some sort of support to continue the game
If they try to do anything against him it would spark backlash?A lot of people have donation page even if they don't do anything.There are even patreons.You can't sue somebody because they have patreon and happened to be part of something.I saw a guy that was making anime from a big studio having a patreon.Should the anime studio sue someone who gets supported elsewhere,hell nah.
The fact that Kay Yu doesn't have a donation page is entirely their choice. Here's one of their comments about it:

What do you think inspired Kay Yu and a bunch of fans around the world to make and update Holocure for free for the past year?
If Hololive dies, then Holocure devs going to lose the main motivation for developing the game.
And few measly dollar donations isn't going motivate anyone to keep going when they got other projects that demand more time and pays more.
