Does the Nintendo Eshop allow 'free' games in the same manner?
Wouldn't be too hard to translate this game to other platforms seeing how it's quite simplistic.

And for that matter, how hard is it to 'publish' free games like these fan games onto other platforms anyways?

I highly doubt this game will ever come to the Nintendo Switch. Especially since Nintendo tends to have a fairly strict guideline set and I feel this game would run afoul of it because of it's fan-game nature.

That said, why play this on a Switch when you can just go get yourself a Steam Deck.

Yes, eShop does have some free-to-play games. No idea about the publishing process on that or any other platform, though.

Plenty of people already own a Switch and don't have a Deck, so there'd be no additional cost to play it. Plus though a Deck is low priced for what you get it's not exactly a trivial purchase.

I have both a Steam Deck & a Switch finding the Switch to be more versatile for long-hail flights. If it finds itself on Switch you'd tap into a bigger market. Granted, Steam Deck is not something to ignore either. I've seen a few Steam Decks in the wild.

Problem that needs to be fixed first is to officially mend the 'crash on boot' errors many people have been getting, including myself.

The actual main issues is that I doubt the dev is interested in porting this (he is stretched thin as is), plus this isn't a very port-friendly engine, being Gamemaker.

Now that I think about it, people encounter slowdowns in this game enough on PCs that I doubt the Switch could even handle it at a smooth enough framerate to be fun.

The Steam Deck already chugs on later parts of stages. I don't even want to imagine how bad it would run on a Switch. Vampire Survivors literally overhauled their entire engine just for the Switch port. The old engine was replaced by the newer one on all platforms and even allows for 4 play co-op now.

The same would probably need to be done to HoloCure. Cause even on over-kill PC's it can exhibit slow downs or stutters when lots of enemies spawn on screen. I am on a i9-9900k clocked at 4.8 Ghz, RTX 3090TI and installed on a Gen 4 NVMe drive and when giant groups of enemies spawn all at once(Stage1, Hard mode skeletons as an example). The game locks up for a second. This didn't used to happen as bad on some of the earlier updates.

Probably won't happen. I think Undertale (another gamemaker game) required a lot of time and effort to port despite it's popularity, mainly due to the engine.

Why get a steam deck when you can get a laptop

Form Factor. Same reason you wouldn't get a laptop over a switch.

A laptop with the same performance as the steamdeck wouldn't fit on my desk as effectively when not moving around, and when moving around well...laptops are pretty bad at that, since they can't be on your lap while moving.

The current version 0.6 Version chugs? I found the .5 version chugged, this 0.6 runs smoother (with tons of enemies on screen) making it a more enjoyable experience on the Steam Deck.

Sadly, I've been prevented from playing the game with the 'crash on start up' error. Shame. It's such a great game. :ALdrinkemoji:

How do you have a Gen4 M.2 with a Z390? Im assuming its running at gen3 speeds. As for 4.8ghz for a i9-9900k im curious what motherboard/cooler you have with it, (im running at 5.0ghz all-core with a MSI z390 and a cheap 120mm cooler for reference)

Gpu performance doesn't help that much, its all CPU.

And if your CPU is only good at one fastest core but not utilizing the rest then it can bog down the game while your PC has excess of free resources.

So it's the game engine that can't utilize the hardware

The advantage of platforms for consoles and traditional handhelds is that they are not using Windows or the likes. They have lower overhead.

You can see HoloCure run on PS4 generation of hardware though. But Nintendo Switch uses a Tegra chip so it really needs good optimizations to make it work.
