Report a translation problem
I just used wasd space (I did find it a bit easier to use enter on later attempts) and got to 50 on like my 3rd try, then the game started ignoring my inputs and I instantly died, I assume it's just a matter of being familiar with rhythm games, gonna get 100 before long
or just increase the multiplier per catch as the higher tier fishing rods you get

can't you switch from the inventory in the pause menu? I mean they're all listed on the far right tab with the fish you can catch beside them

The first rod only has 3 fish it can catch. The problem is that when you have the later rods unlocked, you almost never see Shrimp or Clownfish show up but even the highest tier workers ask for them and some food recipes still need them. You can swap rods, but even ignoring that it resets your combo, the beginner rod has terrible yield so it feels bad to spend a million sand on the final rod but still have to swap to the beginner rod sometimes to avoid RNG making you wait a full hour to get a few pieces of Shrimp your workers want.
