Tideripper Tail is pretty easy.
However, Shellsnapper is especially annoying because it's lengthy underground behavior seems to make it completely immune to applying a new elemental state, no matter how instant you can apply it. At least the front Bolts tend to be something you can directly target.
- Shock damage;
- ropecaster, preferably Elite ropecaster from Thornmarsh weapon vendor;
- knockdown (damage machine legs, preferably with drilling spears).
And, for completeness sake (you're probably aware), dont use any explosives! Especially if you want internal parts like the Processing Capsule.
Aim for the gaps in the Shellsnapper's armor - a single tearblast arrow may rip off an entire piece of armor and multiple parts at once.
Not sure if it was intended but sure makes things a lot easier.
Gotta aim for the legs tho.
Other than that there's Elite ropecaster but you'll have to farm a lot to upgrade it to the max level.
P.S. the blue spikethrower is Spinthorn Spike Thrower, you get it from a relatively early quest.
Tried it on Tideripper, doing well.
But Slitherfang, even the normal one, has high electric resistance. And this stupid snake moves like crazy.
Shock Shredder misses its shot a lot.
Tideripper: zap arrows > shoot components off
Also it's easier to kill the turtle by shooting acid bomb at it's back.
It got some crazy reach, but yeah, its not that fast so can miss easy on all the HYPER twitchy machines. Frost is usually your friend there.
Never found Tideripper to be a problem. It has several very long wind up attacks that allow you to sprint around it and get an easy shot on its tail.
I find Stormbird and Dreadwings to be very annoying to strip components too. Even when you shock them or tie them down, they twitch so much the arrows keep missing.
Only cannon and fang are worth farming from Stormbird and Dreadwings.
So tear arrow and concentration will do. For Stormbird, hit the chest. Dreadwing, hit between the eyes.
I'm well aware of how to strip the main components ><
But that doesn't work when you want to maximise your chances for Circulators/Primary Nerves by stripping off supplementary components. The Dreadwing's under-wing containers can be tricky to get a good shot on, and the Stormbird's Wing Thrusters refuse to get hit sometimes.
None of them compare to the Slitherfang though, just because of how incredibly tanky they are and how awkward it is to dodge their shock tail attacks. Dreadwing/Stormbird are complete pushovers in terms of the damage they do.
I can shot down all six Stormbird Thruster on apex, aim a little bit lower right when it flap down its wings. Two shots of three will hit the weakness miraculously.
For Dreadwing I just give up the idea to utilize its parts and grind Circulators/Primary Nerves from other giant machines.
But Slitherfang is always a bia-tch.
