How flying is introduced feels aweful.

So what devs, I have to let Varl die just get flying and when I do my first flight you won't even let me dismount at will? This is so bad and anti fun I have lowered my review score.

On the plus side, in NG+ you keep the Sunwing override, so you can rush thru the main quest until you get the Base, climb up to the Sunwing site and get a flying mount quite early.

You can, and in fact you have to in order to complete main quest.
