Like in GTAV when Franklin has to choose between Michael and Trevor. I can barely remember anyone's name in this game. Even Varl and Erend feel like side characters. I also wish for this option since I didn't feel invested in either side.
You have two options: Either choose one of the two only options - usually contrived and both equally unappealing - or leave the quest open.
I wish devs would FINALY start to AT LEAST let me complete quest like this by saying "F*** you all, and sort your crap by yourselfs" and walk away.
I am not entirely sure that once started the quest you can back down.. since once of the main missions later will take you back to Gemini Cauldron ;)
