Is Forbidden West waaay harder than Zero Dawn or am i just bad now

Played through Zero Dawn on Ultra, took a while getting used to but by halfway through the game i could deal with most encounters without dying
But Forbidden West is a struggle, nothing wants to die, I enjoyed the endurance of fights in ZD but in FW it gets to the point i think the health values are bugged

Just as a matter of interest as well, I am finding that in ng+ at a new difficulty than the first run; if I approach (say) a fireclaw and can see he has some machine buddies nearby, mark them all so i'm ready - let's say there's 4 altogether - mid fight that turns into machines from all nearby counties joining in, it's particularly like that in the dlc where I am right now - took on 2x bileguts and the little flying things - at the end - all those, with burrowers, monkeys, ravagers - ok lots of loot but they were not there in the first place lol! I stealth a lot so spend time casing the area before I hit them to start with and I know they aren't there - must be machine osmosis!

2 and a half playthroughs. You can get 1 purple from the main game and 1 legendary from burning shores. Farm up in story mode and do NG+

HZ seemed to be more fun in the combat.

the constant animations slow Aloy down to stupid levels. the machines are active the whole time you watch Aloy drink a dumb ass potion

The game feels harder than HZD mainly because a huge variety of weapons IMO. I was overwhelmed when I first noticed this.

Due to the vast amount of weapons, it was hard to experiment with different build. My first playthrough was rough, I was ready to give up.

But I tried to stick to a specific build around acid weapon and critical damage and before I know it I just finished ultra hard. at the moment.

My game progression would be:

1. Very Hard (using only impact and tear damage was a pain; didn't know that acid damage is OP), hunter bow main.
2. NG+ story mode (preparing for Ultra Hard; max-out legendary armor and weapon of choice, including weaves).
3. NG+ on Ultra Hard, using 2 legendary warrior bows; mainly (acid damage maxed-out), and critical chance and damage for the other one. When I finally clear the game, I realized that I never use valor/weapon skill for the entire run. It took me about 7-8 hours to clear without dying.

I suck at this game and was not planing on platinum, but as I said acid warrior bow is so broken it carried me through.

PS: I used item duplication exploit/glitch in the arena on my 2nd playthrough.
