Do Side Quests/Side Content matter(minor spoilers)?
So, i was wondering if any of the side quests/side content has a tangible effect later on in the game?
Just to give an example:
I helped Kotalla get a new arm. Does this effect anything in the end (for instance will kotalla die in some of the end fights if he has not the arm and live when he has the new arm etc)?
In other words: do any of the things you do have a real impact in the end (perhaps make a battle at the end easier/harder, like killing all rebel bases makes it easier in the end or does this not matter) or is the only thing you get out of these perhaps a different card/text/speech after you finished the game and thats it?

single ending, nothing matters basically, choices are just to shape personality

You don't have to do the side quests and other activities, but you'll miss some of the most powerful items in the game if you don't to things like collecting all ornaments from the ruins, or finish some of the Arena challenges to get some of the rewards.

It is so sad how they downgraded FW compared to ZD.

What downgrade do you mean in this context?

Doing some of the side quests in ZD gave you allies in the final battle, there is even an achievement for it.

That's true, but it doesn't really affect the boss fight, nor the story.
You will always have allies to fight with you. The side quests only affect who it is.
Wether you have Talana and Aratak with you or Varl and Sona, the fight plays out the same way, as does the story ending. So it's cometic.

thats cool indeed, but to call it a downgrade just on that perspective feels bit mehh to me.

He specifically asked in that context. There are more things I feel like a downgrade. To me FW feels like a filler episode before the third game.

I feel like the devs fell into the trap of thinking that they had to make the game bigger and grander than the first one and ended up just adding stuff because "more = better" right?
