Best tree to place early skill points?
I read that you don't need to worry about which skill tree you invest points in because you will get a ton of skill points. I have gained my first skill point and was looking at the different trees. Each one is tied to a specific type of weapon class. It seems to me that it is important to choose wisely as I suspect it is better to choose a couple of weapon types to master and improve those weapons instead of improving all weapons? I am leaning toward using my first skill point for the hunter bow upgrade.

I go with the bow tree (Hunter) and the stealth tree (Infiltrator) look for abilities in the stealth tree that give bonus damage for Silent Strike, Stealth Ranged and Stealth Tear (Makes harvesting components for upgrades easier) . These skills make the opening area a lot easier to deal with

Don't spend it AT ALL! Just leave it in the bank. Spend it when you know more about what you like in the game.

That first tutorial boss was the hardest thing I encountered until I got out of the starting area. You can get a dozen points before needing to spend them pretty easily. If you can get into No Man's Land, you can get two dozen without much trouble! Once your level starts getting into the low teens, go to a campfire and make a manual save. Then try stuff out! If you don't like what you picked, load the save and spend the points somewhere else. Do-it-yourself respec!

anything but trapper really, but i would firstly upgrade machine master and reset the tree when you cant get a machine to help you

You will want to initially get points into healing, then points into resonator blast and focus.

Stealth is a very slow way of playing and unnecessary as there are no added benefits to stealthing - it only gets fast at higher levels when you have enough points and resources for smoke bombs and enough points into silent spear, low profile and silent move.

Then again, I played on new game Ultra hard, so if you go something like normal or story mode, you can do anything and just experiment - everything except traps are fine (traps don't work on PC - known bug).
