The story of this game can't compete with Zero Dawn, but I don't think that would have been even possible, since the core mystery is solved. But all in all I would argue that Forbidden West is a much better game. More fleshed out and refined, just like a successor should be.
Get it. There will be a third and probably last part too.

All the way through HZD i thought 1 certain person was supposed to be helping Aloy and right a the end i realised i was wrong Aloy was finding out all the things HE wanted to know. Remember the end bit when something flew into a cage and he said welcome back our work is not done yet.
"Trust is for fools. It shifts and crumbles like sand, a poor foundation for any partnership, but mutual self interest... now that is a solid bedrock upon which you and I might build a new science of understanding."
This is him pretty much admitting he is only helping Aloy because her goals and his seem to align. That's an implicit warning that if ever their goals do not align... she's on her own. i.e. He's not helping Aloy to help her. He's helping Aloy to help... himself.
Sylens doesn't want the world to end not because he cares about anyone else in it, but because it would be the end of himself and his quest for knowledge. THAT is the only thing he cares about and it's why he does what he does at the end of Zero Dawn.
It's a terrible shame we won't get to see Lance Reddick (RIP) reprise the role of Sylens in Horizon 3. I'm not sure who else can carry on this character in the same way.
I guess he only used the game for about 20 minutes and did not get as far as the training session.
HZD is the only game i finished and started again the next day .... i usually wait about a year before i revisit something
Weird. And the kids section already tells very interesting little stories which hint on the bigger mistery. Also not to forget: "Happy birthday Isaac! Daddy loves his little big man!" How Aloy replays it over and over because she never has been told something like this. Really well done.
But it's not everyone's kind of game of course.
