HFW wasn't that popular? It led sales charts for months after its release. And once the PS5 supply issues got sorted, it saw those sales continue pretty steadily as people wanted to check out a PS5 showcase title.
The majority of people were either scorned by Ratched & Clank or Spider Man, or newbies just refund and move on, as they should.
Nixxes has got away with these shenanigans for years, and it's clear that enough is enough for the majority.
Hopefully in future Sony will have the common sense (doubtful) not to hire this studio for any future ports, since everything they touch becomes a broken mess.
If you can't do your job, you shouldn't have that job.
But yeah as soon you express any form of criticizm, you will be labeled as someone Starseed Gamer described here in his/her comment.
Hell those people going so far to claim i don't have any rights to form opinions and should be banned because i don't own the game. Completely ignorant to the fact while trying to enforce their opinions with lies that a) everyone can see if you own the game with that well known mouse icon next to your name b) even IF you don't own it on steam you still have any right to your opinion.
I think reganarok will suffer more because it's a YouTube game. What I mean is a game that is 60% amazing cut scenes and 20% okish game play and 20% semi meaningless slog. You can watch the character essay on Thor and Odin ans skip 90% of the game.
Honestly HFW I might pick up for 20$ but not a cent more.
Frankly, the woke stuff is the least of the issues to me. It feels that in every regard or element of this game is a step down, or steps, from the first game.
1. The Environments
In the HZD it was a new world full of wonder and variety with plenty of questions. I loved wandering around the destroyed towering buildings of the past. The expansion was an awesome icy wonderland that felt like a lot o love was put into the layout and design.
Unfortunately, in HFW, much of the desert/sand landscape feels like it was copy and pasted. The sea? was very boring with no real incentive to explore. I would dive for nigh hours all over the place and not find a single thing that was worth finding. The thick tropical woods in HFW was ok, but felt .....just there(cosmetic). It was essentially just an obstacle to run through as you made your way to the next village. There was nothing interesting to see nor to explore.
2. NPCs
Although Rost had death flags on him, he was a very endearing character and you wanted him to somehow stay alive. The elders did a good job making you hate them. Helis gave you a good reason to be invested by seeking revenge. Varl and his mother showed that people within a tribe could be understanding. Erend definitely surprised me because I thought he would be an eventual enemy, but was just a noble guy living under the shadow of his sister. There is so much more to name, but of course, Sylens was mysterious.
HFW? None of the old characters seemed to show any real growth beyond the first game. The new npcs never captured the same charm except for Kotallo.
3. Combat/parkour
HZD - It was simply fun. It didn't need to overly complicate things. The climbing was one of the easiest I've ever played in games. I would even dare say I enjoyed such a mundane task.
HFW - More weapons......but there is such an overlap in abilities for the weapons, such as acid, that it made they weapon system feel redundant overall, especially since I could run straight through the map and find late-game villages early in the game and attain late-game weapons. Climbing became janky and frustrating. I was more frustrated in the first hour than I was in the entire first game combined. Even worse, the second game completely nerfed the long roll.
4. Story/Villians
HZD, as stated before, had a sense of wonderment and lots of questions. There was a sense that Helis wasn't the only main bad guy.....but it was fun for the journey of seeing if sylens would be an main enemy. There was back story for Helis and plenty of buildup and you even saw how Helis was connected to that Sun Kingdom, once upon a time.
HFW - spoiler.................no more wonderment and very little questions. There's nothing worse than having a main villain be an A.I, except for villians that get introduced halfway through the story, without buildup, and seem.......like an after-thought of the developers. One of the three human villains aren't even killed by you. One of the villians is a cringy love-struck creep. The last villian is a "bwhahaha I'm a threat because you need me to be a threat" without rhyme or reason.
5. Ending
HZD - AMAZING! It was definitely a top ten ending for a game, imo. I loved it so much that I would show family members (who weren't gamers) the ending.
HFW - .............eeeh. I think I was feeling disappointment that I spent so much time for this ending. Truth be told, half-way through the game I wasn't expecting a similarly impactful ending like the first game, but certainly much more than .....that.

Dishonorable mentions of HFW
The crafting system and drop rates is so aggravating that I would frankly suggest not even bother with it more than you absolutely must.
The Colosseum felt like a slap in the face. A person once correctly criticized it by saying that these two games have encouraged you to hunt/kill in a style of your choosing.........but then force you to fight only one way in the colosseum (brawler style). Wbtw, caused many people to just adjust the difficulty setting to the lowest and just half-heatedly finished it. So, this really did feel like a wasted opportunity to make something both challenging and epic.
Women alsovprefer a handsome male character in video games/tv shows/and movies/etc or a female they imagine themselves being like.
However,.....
Men would love a Metroid movie even if Samus never came out of her suit MUCH more than a Bayonetta movie. There are things that men might appreciate.....just like women appreciate a handsome male lead in a movie.........but the vast majority aren't going to invest their time and adoration in a movie or game just by the appearance of a character.
I'm a guy. I absolutely loved HZD. It's in my top 5 games in the last 10 years.
I can't think of any guy I personally know who played the game that didn't love it.
However, neither I nor any guy I know or personally talked to thought much of HFW.
