For example, there is one occasion where you scan some device buried behind some rocks from a distance, but you need to get closer to get more details. Aloy starts immediately talking "Hm, how can I get closer? Maybe there, to the left?" <walking a few steps in this direction> "Oh look, maybe I can climb up there to get closer ..."
On the other hand, there are also areas where Aloy doesn't help at all. I can remember one quest during my first playthrough, where I just didn't find a way to climb up - it took me 10-15 minutes to find a ladder hidden in the shadows. ^^
It can be a bit annoying if you like puzzles, but it's not so bad that it ruins the game, imho. If you enjoyed the first game, you will enjoy Forbiden West as well, probably.
I think the hint system is a great idea, especially for new players or people who just want to enjoy the combat and story. You don't have to waste time trying to figure out puzzles you don't care about and can just go straight to doing the stuff you enjoy.
Unfortunately the developers decided to put everyone into that group. Some of us want to figure stuff out on our own. Even if it takes me 15 minutes to figure it out I want the satisfaction of solving it on my own. The game takes this away from the player way too often. A simple on/off toggle for hints would have solved this making both camps happy. Instead those of us who dislike hints are stuck with Aloy yapping about whatever puzzle you're doing before you get to even think about.
I like how the first game didn't have many hints but I get why they added them in the sequel. I just wish they would thought of the entire player-base rather than one side.
There was an instance just few hours ago where I couldn't figure out a spot I should pull & double jump but she forgot to hint me after the first time which I missed cos the audio is kinda bad where background noises shadows her lines so I had to turn on the subtitles. Ended up looking at a text walkthrough & felt dumb that it was right infront of me.
Did my first cauldron of the game & she was very helpful in the mechanical arm puzzle & also kudos to devs for makin sure player can only jump if there's an available option to jump or you'd just jump to death.
So IMO it isn;t annoying in the 20 hours I have played yet. Just started couple days ago.
It literally never stops lol, it's like being in the tutorial all the way to the game's end and the DLC.
What you're describing is the exact problem some of us have with the hint system. It's great for those who don't mind Aloy hand holding them every step of the way but ruins it for those of us who don't want any help.
Funny how you assume that's the reason. No I'm not playing on easy or medium. Smh.
Nope, doesn't make any difference. Do not spread misinformation nor question what you don't know such the difficulty they play.
Yeah, this subject is one of a kind. Spends all the day in the discussions a total troll one time purposely spoiled part of the game by mistyping "/spioler" and got his comment removed by a moderator.
And no, difficulty won't make Aloy quieter on puzzles or whatever, if you really want this to stop (which I did myself) I strongly recommend you to check this mod:
https://www.nexusmods.com/horizonforbiddenwest/mods/75 it is literally called "Shut Up Aloy" and the name does exactly what you expect.
