Which armor are you using before getting any legendary sets?

I am currently using the Tenakth Vindicator armor. I am maybe 1/3 to 1/2 way through the game. I haven't been able to improve it beyond the first step. From what I have read, the usual applies. You get great armor at the end of the game when you no longer need it. LOL.

I am using a combat style of bows, boltcasters and melee which is inevitable at times. I also got the caster that allows you to place explosive trip wires or to put up a shield.

I guess they all have their pros and cons and none substantially better until you get to the legendary gear sets.

Different armors can matter quite a bit. If you've got one that's -24 against fire when you go up against something that uses a lot of fire, it's going to be harder than if you had armor that is +24. The skills can help a lot, too.

P.S. I've done almost 0 melee and it has worked out fine EXCEPT in one boss fight, where you are stuck in a small area with no possible cover. I had to drop the difficulty a notch to get through that one.

I used the Thunderjaw armour with 2nd chance from near start of game for most of my run through. My next was one that had quite balanced stats and concentration benefits. I used the 2 slots for 3% purple all stat coils to remove the negative values. My first legendary armour was near end game before burning shores.

Frankly I think the legendary armor and weapons are a waste of time because the upgrade resources needed are too ridiculous and they don't seem to be needed. They'd probably be good for a Game Plus on a harder difficulty but first time through are unnecessary

If your first playthrough is on ultra hard, what gear you use matters big time cos I am playing NG on UH btw. I am using the Tenakth Vindicator as well with acid and plasma resistant coils cos those numbers are the lowest but the perks like increased weapon stamina and valor surge master were kinda hard to ignore.

I am using a few very rare tier weapons which I have upgraded pretty decent to lvl 3/4 like the sunshot hunter bow, glowblast sharpshot bow, vindicator spike thrower which have helped me in most battles.

As far as legendary gear goes, I have only obtained like 1 outfit (the one for all contracts) and like 3 weapons (gauntlet runs, hunting grounds and the one from Asera) and I am just about to return DEMETER to the base.
